I was curious about the air cleaner duct shown in the attached engine pic in the Four Wheeler mag of the ‘62 FJ40. Anyone know if this was stock, and when did it go away? I only have a ‘65 parts book and it doesn‘t show it.

It was a 20 series/very early 40 thing. That style air cleaner stopped in 1962/63 I believe.

I wonder if my early ‘63 FJ45 would have had one?

Air intake on apron stopped early 61’ afaik

@Living in the Past would definitely know

Correct Johnny, not sure when but the opening in the apron for 40 series with a oil bath air cleaner ended during the 61 production. Believe my newer 61 is a 1~FJ40~108XX. Has an oil bath air cleaner but no inlet on the apron. It still has the large fuel cap and second arm rest at the front of the jump seats. Never seen a 62 with either of those two things.
