This Saginaw power steering with the OE Toyota pump is straight up legit. The steering is so tight now.

Lou and I crashed the Central MS Cars and Coffee this morning.

@AndyO78FJ40 had a mid life crisis and sold his 4Runner and has a BMW now. He and his much better 1/2 and kids were there poking around as well

This morning I pulled Patina out of the garage to sweep. Fired right up like always.

Went back to take Red for a cruise on the farm and the damn thing won't crank. No fire. I'm thinking my DUI took a s***. Not sure how to test it. My spark tester is showing weak spark.

I'll do what I do best and just toss parts at it. New cap and coil ordered.......

Check for 12v at dizzy with key on and while cranking.

Just tried. It’s getting switched 12v all through the crank at that wire.

One thing I noticed this morning when I was trying to crank it was the cap of the distributor was hot. Very hot. I may have smoked it

Pull the cover off of the coil and clean the paint off of the coil where the ground terminal bolts on.

Tosses $180 in new wires, coil/cap and rotor on the Dissy and it was still dead.

Called Performance and they sent me this free.

Plugged it in and boom. Fired right up.

I guess with 3 trucks running these distributors I should probably put one of these in inventory.

Finally made it through every post over 74 pages. Thanks Nolen for the information and inspiration.

You are welcome. I drove the old pile this afternoon. Such an amazing truck. I wish everyone working on a 40 could drive this one just to see what one with the proper tune, brakes and steering is capable of feeling like.

3 years ago today I picked up Patina from 49T and
Pats house. It was gone about 4 months while they sorted out the wiring and got it running and Rob fixed my oil pan.

Took me a couple of slow days at work to burn through this, but what a fun read! I've seen this and ol' blue on the covers of Toyota Trails, and getting the back story really bolsters up the awesomeness of your Cruisers. I get a lot of comments on the See and Eat MS sticker you sent me of ol' blue and your Boston, Pig. Thanks for letting us follow along! Off to the build thread for the 55.

Thank you sir!

Farm got some new toys and the Puckett dude came out to make sure I don’t burn it up during the warranty period.

@cbmontgo came by today and let me show off my Cruisers. It was damn cold but I made him take Patina for a spin and he helped me put the hard top on.

I remembered this year to put my @Racer65 upper windshield gasket on. Man, that sure made it even more quiet and rattle free (yea right)

Had a great day in Patina today. We did a 120 mile loop .... about 60% gravel and the rest small paved roads.

The only issue I had was the passenger door is popping open. It’s likely body flex from worn body mounts and the fact that my top is held on by the windshield bolts and two clamps back at the tailgate.

I’m going to get some door pins like the hood pins. Hope that and these new fj-45 roof clamps I installed this afternoon help tighten things up.

These clamps should help some

Shoulda used some hood latches to keep it original.

These are OEM 45 latches. My Pickup has them. Figured it was worth a try. Don’t think hood latches would do much. Needs the cam action to pull it tight
