PROJECT FJ35 Is Over - LV Gets "T" Boned At 60mph

I'm surprised some of the advertisers and sponsors on MUD or just other cruiser companies haven't jumped in on this. I would imagine a vocal donor would see some sales and support back to their business.

I'm selling a family cage off of a 40 for the donation fund. I want a ride in the new 35 once it's done otherwise I'm not sending you the $$$$.

Sorry to hear about this :frown:

I went through the same thing with my 55 2 years ago when I rolled it. I know how this feels for sure. Glad you are ok and still around for your family.

I'll see what I can do to help as well. This board is awesome.

good luck!
Ben

Gene,
I am in shock... After all that wagon has been through for both of us.

First and Foremost, I am glad that you are ok and she protected you from
serious injury when the time came......

I just pulled the front end out of my 73 FJ55, and put a disc brake front end in it. If there's a way to get it to you, it's yours. I've also got a rear end out of a '78 FJ55 that your welcome to. If you need a 3spd or 4spd I've got at least one of each laying around, just let me know. I've got a 4spd floor shift mated to a 3spd case that Ican do without...I could bring all of this to the 45 run if you still need it by then. I've got stock drum brake steel wheels that can go with the axles too. I've got a dual cylinder master and boosetr off my 73 that I can mail down to you easily enough. Just let me know what you need.

Dan

Glad you're okay.

Gene - Truck and Trailer is available for you....
I am going to Portland Oregon and also Little Rock Arkansas this year.
Let me know if I can pickup anything for you in those directions!!!

Gene-
Not sure if it will work for you but I've got a 3spd floor shift that came out of my '72 55 that's yours if you want it. I'm just south of San Francisco so it should be easy enough to get it down there.

Thanks again to all of you.

Reconnected the battery today and the 2F fired right up. Ran for about 30 seconds until she ran out of gas. Turns out when the rear driver side tire struck the other vehicle and sheared the spring mount from the frame, the tire slid back and bent the filler neck on the gas tank moving it back about 4"and ripping it from the filler neck hose. The LV coming to rest on the driver side emptied the tank into the street.

Georg: The frame is bent. The rear springs are good although they do look a little tweeked. I think it's because the rear axle is still sitting at an angle. The U bolts are twisted. The front springs are no longer arched the same. The driverside is much flatter. Rear axle looks like it may have a horizontal crack in the housing, and again is leaking from the driverside. Front axle is gushing from the driverside. Radiator looks good. Driveshafts look good too.

jsaltlick: I promise I'll give you a ride, but how the heck do you get to masshole?

mderrick: The trans is a three on the floor. It's a old tired hard as hell to shift 3 speed that I have planned to change out for a 4 speed since the day I bought it.

Dan: Maybe down the line I can take that 4 speed floor shift mated to the 3 speed case off your hands. Right now I'm just overwhelmed by all of this and feel like any upgrades should come later. Good to hear from you bro.

Steve: I'm coming to see Marv soon. I'll give you a call first. Thanks for the offer.

Thanks again guys. I'm sure you can understand that what you're all doing is a little difficult to accept at times. Most of you I've never even met. This is just huge. I was telling my bud about what you're all doing over the phone and could hear him sucking it up big time. Like I was telling Eric C (fj45lv), I was planning on driving my LV daily 'til I was an old man. I just loved that wagon. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to continue living that dream. Dismantling starts tomorrow.

very cool Georg one question we all know the rules say no posting for ebay parts but for this cause just so we can get the word out maybe we could make an exception check it out and let us know

i will pm woody to make sure it's cool with him; i don't forsee a problem with it though. thanks for the hint rob!

the donations have already started to show up in the account; just shy of $500 already!

ok well if you want the four speed i can take the case off and put the trans on a pallet to you, i don't need it sitting around its no use when you have a 5 spd.;)

let me , know i am a poor college student so the trans is your for ride.

also if any one is going between utah and gene's area come get this thing!

that's a great offer! is the trans out of a 40 or 60 series rig? if it's from a 40/45/55, then it'll work perfect. i have a few buddies at moab right now, they might be able to hook up with you on their way home and pick it up for us.

thanks again!!!!!

Transportation?

Props to all of you for jumping in with both feet and helping out!

I'm broke as fawk right now but I can get one of our flatbed Jerr-Dan rigs from my part-time job and grab the donor from Gene's to Mark's shop. Give me some notice to arrange it. My schedule is fairly flexible, so if there is a need to accumulate and retrieve parts within the So Cal area let me know and I'll do what I can to contribute and deliver.

Mark W.

its out of a 82' fj60... i wasn't sure if there was some way of adapting the old case to a trans that used a split. let me know
