PROJECT FJ35 Is Over - LV Gets "T" Boned At 60mph

The two cars that I fit my LV between were the first two cars to cross on the green. Anything that would have slowed me down without stopping me short of the intersection would have probably had me crossing an intersection full of crossing vehicles. Since nobody was hurt, I don't think it could have turned out any better.

Here's some pics of the damage.

Awh, come on now, that'll buff right out. I've ridden in rigs that looked worse than that...

The front clip doesn't look too bad. Looks the perfect start to a new project.

those damage pics make my balls hurt; kinda like getting kicked sqaure in the old beanbag...... :crybaby:

but at least some of the hard to find goodies are still intact; the cats-eye lenses, the super sweet hood emblem, the fj25 bib and grille, the tailgates and some other assorted unobtanium. perfect donor parts to put on another rig if you ask me!

Damn Gene, just when you were starting to get back into things. That is beyond sucks. You did so much in what time you had to work on it. I glad you are okay and eveyone else is as well. If you want I will gladly keep my eyes open for another one. Just let me know. Feel so bad you man. Good luck.

Gene,

I felt like I just got punched in the stomach when I read the title of this thread. First off I'm glad you are ok and will heal from the injuires. I'm also glad nobody else was seriously hurt.

I really enjoyed your FJ35, from the story of getting it, adding the 25 front end, and the paint scheme. It was and is still really appealing. I look at it as it gave up it's life to protect you. This is also a wake up call to all other owners to double check everything out and make upgrades as needed. We can't plan for freak accidents like this, but we can try.

Gene I'm truly sorry about all this, let me know if there is anything we can do to help out.

x1.8billion..... what a s***ter.

 to the rig.

Having seen the extent of the damage firsthand, and hearing about all the stuff that was IN THE TRUCK with you:eek:, and how remarkably well you came out of this accident, it is abundently clear that God has other plans for you Gene. :)

For all your trials and tribulations, you must be doing something right!;)

Sorry to hear about all the vultures trying to horn in on parts. :frown: The internet is a microcosm of the world, and I guess not even the 45 forum is completely immune.

To all LV owners who read this thread, I would like to say that unless AND until you see Gene actually post stuff up for sale, leave him be. His head is likely to be spinning for a while, and the last thing he needs are hasty decisions encouraged by opportunists.:frown:

It is my sincere hope [and I know this is shared by others who have actually met him;)] that somehow, somewhere, we can find Gene a donee LV shell that has exactly the number of parts missing from it as Gene has left from this one, and that we can come together as a community to help Gene get a new LV on the road.

We've wheeled together for 18 years. Let's make it 18 more.:)

We'll talk some more when I get back from Moab.

i don't know where you're coming from Mark
BUT
the only messages i've read look like people truly are concerned for Gene

I thought I was having a bad dream when I opened this thread.... So sorry Gene, I was really looking forward to seeing this rig come together. Lets hope your injuries prove to be minor and that you find the inspiration to change the direction of this project, or start a new one with some new old parts. I'd really love to see an FJ35, faux or other, in person someday, I hope it'll be yours!

All of your comments have been great and after being gone from the forum for so long, I realize that I had forgotten how supportive and tight this group can be. I know all of you are genuinely concerned. What Mark is referring to is a comment I made to him about some PM requests for LV parts before the oil was even cold. That's it, nothing more.

On a different note, as my head starts to clear (literally) more and more, I realize just how shook up and in a fog I was yesterday. My vision has returned to my right eye today too. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and concerns. Kind of overwhelming after being away for so long. It's all greatly appreciated.
