Hah! Hardly as this one is it! Their prices don’t seem so outrageous now… o_O :wrench:🦀

Just got back from koh with the rig 😂

Did a simple update today. I had to replace the battery, and for some reason, the negative terminal wouldn't get tight enough. So new terminals that look better but also have a set screws to hold them on even better.
Also replaced my interior ligh fuse that had blown and then washed it as well!

Decided to install the Ironman winch I had previously bought for the Tacoma but never installed while I'm sorting out the Warn 8274 that came with the 80 series. I tried to clock the Ironman motor but am not able to get it back on. It's hard to explain, but in the first photo (looking inside the motor housing), the four copper pieces I circled are on a spring, so when you press them away from the center, when you let go, they move back. Those four pieces need to fit over the piece of the motor armature I circled in the second picture, but it's not possible in their current position without getting pressed out to fit around it. The third picture is of the outside of the motor housing. Any thoughts on how to reinstall this or if there's a local shop I could reach out to?

FYI, I contacted Ironman and they essentially said I'm ****ed and suggested seeing if someone local that specializes in winches can put it back on.

Usually there are small holes on the outside of the housing (may be covered to keep water out). Push the brush (4 things at the bottom) in (all the way in) and then insert a small wire/paper clip into the hole to retain the brush. Do that to all of them. Insert the rotor and remove the paper clips. The springs will push the brushes out against the rotor.

I don't see any holes. Where the brush would be located (and any potential holes) is covered up by what appears to be an end cap (see pic below). It looks like the end cap should come off (if it did, it would be simple to access the brush and reinstall it), but I haven't really tried to give it the beans yet to see if it will come off. The Ironman guy I was communicating with said he was "pretty sure" the end cap doesn't come off, but I have nothing to lose at this point by trying to get it off. Doesn't appear to have any internal wiring connected to it from the inside.

You're gonna have to push these brushes in as far back as you can get them. If theres no holes in the casing back there, you can try to see if there is a latch that they can catch onto. Either by the casing having a lip or something that'll just hang onto them. If that works, then you'd just put it back together carefully, then whack the end cap with a hammer and let them fall in.

If nothing like that is there, push the brush all the way back, and see if the spring becomes visible out of the back. If it does, shove a zip tie in the spring so it catches on the metal ring and holds the brushes back.

Take the cover off. They have to push the brushes back or remove tension on them to assemble the motor!

No idea how I did it but I got the brake lights working after installing new ones. The wiring is a real show back there. Also got the temp sending unit hooked up and it’s working. Originally only the head lights worked. Now they are the only lights not coming on. Haha. Still no blinking from signals.

One of my less than favorite projects, but I need to get the compressor wired up!

And while working on mine, a little transmission transplant going on for the Exploder...

Heard about the trans problem, hope it gets fixed up!
Reman already on the way…

And a 3rd special switch in mine…unfortunately my manifold for the air compressor is leaking like a sieve, but at least the driver’s compartment is back together.

@Explorer4Hire I think I just found a vid of your rig from the PO of your rig.... 🦀

On the subject of wiring...one of my son's projects for U of MD in Cambridge that's wrapping up...they hand bent all of that conduit as part of the project. I guess my quarter panel mount pales in comparison, but at least I feel like he got the mechanical skills from me. ;)

And I finally got my drawer platform system finished and installed....part of my hangup was getting the lockers and new air compressor wired up and was able to finish that up last weekend with final connections this past Saturday.

I was struggling a bit with mounting this down...I had a good plan, but the 1/2" aluminum stock was a pain to try and tap, so I ended up borrowing my drill press back from my cousin-in-law that I gave to on indefinite loan 15 years ago. Drill press made easy work of nice straight holes so I could do nut inserts that are pressed in from the back side...super solid now and used all existing mounting points for seats and cargo hooks to secure the base bars.

I wanted a modular design, so the hatched panel behind the passenger seat can come out easily to put that side in quickly, and if needed, the fridge platform in front of the spare can come out too for the second seat. The rear drawer box can stay put and will fit right up to the backs of the middle seat/s if that is the case, or everything can be removed completely in 15 minutes. 🔧🦀

Pretty sweet setup, looks like everything is pretty well thought out. I still need to finish my drawers...I cut out the pieces recently but need to find time to put them together.
