I just got back, Mike & Dave have a long drive home today all the way to Vegas.
We ran the full Robinson Hole trail yesterday. We had some dramas with one of the Piggies that could have ended in disaster but we were able to fix it on the trail and all was well. I will let Mike & Dave tell the full tale. I had a fantastic time! I will post some pics and videos here.
Pig Party 2024 was a success! Little light in attendance but it was a GREAT location, beautiful, and the trails we did were fantastic! Best of the three PP’s I have been to trail wise. Thanks to Ian for showing us a great second day on the full Robinson Hole trail. Thanks to Mike for the planning and thanks to Nick @Megadoomer for picking the location.
Congrats Jim for perhaps having the most pigs of anyone of us and finally making it to a PP with a nice red/white piggie! It was great to meet you in person.
It was a long drive home so I will post a few pictures tonight and more later. Thanks for getting the pictures started Ian. And yes I will tell the trail repair story later.
Sorry I missed it. Seeing that a couple of you drove up from Vegas, I feel like a wuss for not making an effort to drive down from Boise...I didn't have confidence in the Pig though.
Sign on the canoe at the lake said to feel free to use it but please leave it where ya found it! I have a video of Mike and Jennifer taking it for a spin but not sure how to post a video…LOL
There were vast quantities of crickets EVERYWHERE!!! Like plague level of crickets and they were HUGE. Some pictures of how big they were one on my vintage Springbar Tent and also one next to my pig keys.
Only gas for like 80 + miles once you were in Jarbidge was $6.86 per gallon but at least you could get gas and it was ethanol free so there is that! All the Californians are saying “well that’s not such a bad price!”
Ian @SNLC leading the pigsty on the Robison Hole Trail. Great guy and we were really glad to have him join. His very nice 80 is now an honorary FJ55!! You missed some AMAZING empanadas he brought to share. We ate like kings on the trail for lunch that day!!! We had some great Land Cruiser discussion around the fireless camp fire pit at night with Ian and Jim. Yep due to the recent fire in the area all fire was prohibited.
A couple random pictures of my pig on the way out of the canyon heading north on Sunday morning. The river and main road and Jarbidge are alll in a deep and steep “V” valley which makes for a really cool place.
So great! Thank you guys for making Pig Party 2024 happen! It may have been smaller and more, uh, intimate than usual, but many of us were there in spirit.
