I know it’s farther for the right coast, but I still think we should do north central NV in 2022.
that is some brutal country out there, especially around area 51, looks like moonscape. did alot of off road motorcycle riding ot there till my riding partner crashed on the Vegas to Reno ride-he spent 9 months in a body cast, my last race. Now my back is toast, but would love to see it again from a pig

I’d love to see Mono Lake again, and seriously, how could any of us pass up Wheeler Peak?

I haven't ate a McFailBurger in this current millenia. The only exception was partaking in a fast food patty taste test. Where I had a 1in square of 6 different patties and McShitMyPants was one of them. Coincidentally it got last in the blind taste test.

was in Reno , last week . NV has nothing to see just a wide open expanse of desert . that is why all the aliens are kept there . but i will second the Great Basin area/wheeler peak . throw in a Lehman caves tour , and i am there

That guy puts a lot of research into the distance to local McDs!
Interesting NV and SD parallels...

In lieu of the usual potluck, we could gather in Elko for one of the best road trip meals in the West. Worth the drive...I've planned trips around a dinner stop at the Star Hotel.
Added plus for those who might be worried, there are not one but two Mickey D's in Elko.

Family-style meals are always great fun!

Pablo,

Could you get together with Redgrrr and start to work out a plan. You know what type trails that all of us would feel comfortable running, camping, etc. and maybe we can get Pig Party 21 on the way. If there's anything I could do to help I will. It's a lot to ask of you guys and we all will understand if you can't commit to such a big undertaking. This might be the year we break the record of 55s showing up.

Nope, nope, nope! no clown motel for me. :)
If you think the clown motel is frightening, you never stayed in Coaldale Junction.

It’s abandoned now, but back in the day it was the closest motel to Fish Lake Valley and Silver Peak. The first has a bit of ag in it, and Foote Mineral Corp had a huge lithium mining operation at Silver Peak. Both needed water wells.
The water is so hard at Coaldale that it contains huge salt crystals. They used to truck in tanks of fresh water for the restaurant to use. Showering was basically a “change of salt”. Soap wouldn’t lather. The restaurant had an ever-changing cook, as nobody stayed long, or was very good.

But the worst part was the motel rooms. Very drafty, and you quickly learned to turn on the light at night if you needed to get up and pee... because the light would make the scorpions scatter.

Back in the day, there were two phones in Coaldale, both pay phones. The phone numbers were “Coaldale #1” and “Coaldale #2”. You could dial out after dropping a dime, but to call in, you had to call your operator, ask to be connected to the operator In Tonapah, and then explain to her (it was always “her”) how to ring one or the other, a literal plugboard operation, then wait for someone in the bar to get up and answer the pay phone, and hope they weren’t too drunk to help n

There is an armpit of the universe, and it was Coaldale. Tonapah was luxury by comparison, but it was 45 miles further away from the 12 hour shifts at work.

Never thought I’d hear the words “Tonapah” and “luxury“ in the same sentence.

How does Coaldale compare to Gold Hill?
No idea, never stayed in Gold Hill. My father’s cousin owned a motel in Virginia City, so I stayed there when we had work in the area (mostly Carson City).

That hill is a bitch when it snows though.

I was working on a shirt idea when I was thinking this was going to be two or three pigs, do you guys want me to get extras printed and make them available before the party?

The JMack version - that is bad ass dude, fantastic job👍👍👍

Are those tires 37s?

More like 77’s, but they poke out beyond the wheel-wells so there’s still some more work to do😂
