Another thought, just to muddy the waters and provide an option if we wanted to go earlier in the year. How about the Gila NF in southwest New Mexico. Between Silver City and Reserve along the AZ border, if not this year maybe a future one? Looked into it from afar while planning the early December elk hunt we'd hoped to do with our son but had to cancel because Covid restrictions would have screwed him up at his job in Albuquerque. Looks like a lot of nice territory suitable either for expedition style or fixed base camping. Maybe NM folks could weigh in about this.

I believe we’ve gathered as early as late May in the past. Timing is not a consideration for us...we can defer to others who are not yet retired or who have sometimes conflicting responsibilities. I recall Scraps juggling goats and haying last summer. Destination isn’t a dealbreaker for us...we’ve made all of the western Oinkfests so far. Just offering an earlier climate-friendly option if that is an issue for some. Good company and varying scenery are tops on our list.

June 25 thru 28th or so, Black Hills National Forest, South Dakota. If Redgrr is game for those dates I think we have a party. We can bat locations and dates around forever, but some working guys need to pin down plans to get off work. I'm with Jim, we can work around most anything. Let's do this.

it’s only 6 hours from Denver though. Pig is still in ATX, but maybe we’ve moved by then.
