I am bummed that I can't make it to this!
That is my old stopping grounds! I grew up in Challis and my parents still live there.
The pig is just not ready for something like this...
This is one trip I want(ed) to make. Can't due to calendar conflicts.. Maybe next year.... Post pics so those of us who can't attend can turn green w envy..
Have fun ... especially Lil' cruiserjunktion jr...
Yeah, I was trying to learn more about the different stages and it looks like most counties are in stage one (yellow). That's one thing we don't have to deal with in Mo.
A metal pan that you're required to carry on a lot of river trips here. I haul mine almost every time I camp as you can build a fire anywhere and not have to use the established fire ring at unimproved sites. The BLM and FS frown on creating new fire rings and some are just full of trash as dirt-bag campers like to burn everything they can instead of hauling it out.
I built my own, it has folding legs, a lid and a grill. It's a bit heavy, but it's functional and will hold a dutch oven too.
Another nice feature is I can just put the lid on it and the fire is out pretty quickly, and it's contained (no sparks), and go to bed without worrying about it. Our camp was 'visited' and inspected by Park Rangers/FS personnel near Teton National Park last year and we'd had a fire that morning in the fire-pan, I put it out, and put the lid on it and left for the day. I think if they find a warm fire (not in a pan) and you're not right there attending it, its a big fine. We got a nice little note for having a clean camp (no food/trash out for bears) and a smiley face. I was a bit peeved that they were snooping around our camp when we were out, but my wife was happy to get a gold-star for a clean camp.
I don't think so, it specifically states that you have to use a '...fire structure provided by the agency.' So one of their fire rings at an improved campsite area is the only authorized spot for a fire right now.
Yes. I’m trying to take less “stuff” yet travel longer and lighter but still have essentials.
Higher proof booze means less weight.
Fewer guns, just on big one.
3 sticks of dynamite, no chainsaw
I have some cans of dehydrated water left over from when I was a kid.
Fewer clothes, more deodorant.
Leaving my intelligence behind is a given seeing as how I own pig.
Best to all through this strange time of fires, viruses, and any other hardships befalling us.
