Pig Party - 2018?

I enjoy Cruise Moab and also Porsche Club events we attend. They're large events with many scheduled activities and demand a lot of structure and organization.
That's why I also enjoyed Pig Party 2017 in Rico. The informality and spur of the moment nature, to me, fit just perfectly for a small gathering of like-minded FJ55 owners. I'd hate to loose that and fear it could easily be lost if we become part of a larger gathering involving other types of Cruisers. We already have multiple opportunities to take part in larger TLCA events and should continue to do. The Pig Party was different and special because of the difference and I'd hate to loose that by making it a very small part of a larger whole.

Very well said Jim. I wanted to stay neutral in this because I really just want to go somewhere and have fun with you guys, but if talking truth I liked the small group of us 55 guys hanging out. Camping, trail riding and most of all the pot luck! Events like CM are neat, but it's a big production and it seems you loose that connection a small group has. I vote to keep it simple and keep it 55, but I'll go wherever you guys decide.

I was going to revive this thread the other day to get it at the top again. glad its there on its own. I like the small group, but like Ron i really just want to fit in and go with whatever. The pics on the BHCC seem to be pretty advanced for a stock piggy. possibly body panel danger for non stock as well.

I am in for the smaller sized event , i have made most of the main TLCA events over the last 20+ years . and size brings problems . enjoyed the 55 group the best , .. my only regret is that we were spread out . i would love to hob knob with those i missed

Like others have said, we'll try to make whatever is scheduled. Just wanted to get another point of view out for discussion.

Pablo,

The trails seem to be made for more of a trail rig than most 55 guys have, would you take your 55 on the trails mentioned on their web site?

Not on the trails mentioned on the DTC website, but the Fire Loop Run that I mentioned earlier - yes. And if they expand it into an overnight from Badlands NP - also yes. I understand the concern, there are some big rocks in the Black Hills.

I don't want to spam my new bobm rocker.

I am with you! I spent enough time on my Pig that I do not want to go back and spend more time on work I have already done.

One thing to keep in mind with TLCA is the vehicle safety inspection. The big one I see a lot of builds "failing" is a dedicated ebrake/line lock... not sure if TLCA ever approved line lock as alternative.

True! All the TLCA events require a tech inspection.

we go and run outlaw!!! cause that's the way we roll

Heck yeah!

It looks like I significantly mis-read the group's feelings on this when I posted this weekend - my apologies!

The small group of only Pigs was pretty special. Maybe we should keep it as it was - Pigs Only in Rico. It was cool starting things on the longest day of the year as well. If we stick to this, we all have to understand that it would be an informal gathering of friends, nothing more.

If anyone wants to grow the Pig Party into a TLCA event, they can reach out to TLCA leadership and see what would be required.

Next they'll wanna ban SANDALS  and .

ignorance is bliss...what are we talkin about? nevermind, crap- I gotta go...tell me next time! See ya!

I have been shooting from the hip spur of the moment jump in and go when it comes to my off time. So to hear the newest chatter on how people are feeling about OUR iron pig festival, it makes me all warm and fuzzie. My work requires me to organize, plan, schedule and hold people accountable. To have an adventure with like minded fruit cakes without any expectations other then to just show up is a breath of fresh air. I also have been to many rallies, shows, runs, weekends and hootenannies that require planning and coordination by countless volunteers who do great things. I for one enjoy managing and coordinating projects. Do I want that responsibility on my off time??? NOT!!!

It took just 2 bits of information for PP17 to occure, when and where. We're a group of like minded people who have a propensity to watch each other's backs and have a good time. To be free to bring whatever we want to the table that sprinkles joy on the occasion is my cup of tea. No one has to be required to be appointed to any purpose. Granted if 75 pigs show up the logistics would be significantly altered.

If I knew how to capture quotes this diatribe would full of the ones that speak of keep it simple keep .

Besides when my pigs in heat I don't want some 40 or 60 or 100 trying to shag her.

Let's pig party

Yeah, no inspections.....no raffles.....everyone fend for themselves.

The way I always see events going is someone starts charging fees and then they end up having power and money (even if it is $2000) and then they want to make it a chore to attend.

Drive what you can there but make it a Pig event. Its all about the Pig.
