Off to the sand blaster today with parts for the piggy (and the 79 and the 45).
Gonna blast that roughed out floor then start cutting it down to fit

In the meantime, the soupy front axle is coming apart

I've seen worse birf grease before, at least water didn't run out.
That was the better side😃.
The other was soup bad but missed the photo

No water though so that's good. Everything seems fine in there, just needs bearings and seals

The replacement floor got fitted. We had to cut and fold the wide part up to get it in and out of the truck. It is all blasted and patched. This afternoon I powder coated it white and we are planning to panel bond and spot weld it in, stitch the cuts for the fold up wings back in, then seam seal the edges. There is some other random patchwork to do as well, then lizard skin the whole floor.

I haven't posted a wanted ad yet, but does anyone have a cover for the fuel tank access they want to sell? My original is rusted in half and I haven't located the one from the parts truck. It may be in one of the bins of parts it came with but no luck yet.

Thanks!

It’s like they designed them to rust 😔
OEM...no extra charge. I've told people all Pigs rust. From the top down on the coasts, from the bottom up everywhere in between.

Looking good man - that floor patch is sweet so you don’t have to stitch all those seams. Is that rack coated silver? Good to see the piggy getting some love 🐷
Thanks!. The rack is coated silver. Seemed to fit better with the bumpers and grille.

I've been wanting to try panel bond on something like this for a while. It is like armor. I will grab a picture of it.

Next will be to seam seal everything just to be over the top, then Lizard skin sound control for well,.... sound control. And to seal it up even more!

Man you got that right. I tell everyone that the rust hole on the fender behind the front tire is a mandatory factory option.

More progress pictures. The floor looks messy in there but it is really solid and sealed up nice. I used the gas tank out of my 1970 parts pig because it was really nice. They are a bit different, mainly the vent outlets. Running longer hose back to the 76 cluster seems to have fixed that problem. The tank got powder coated in anodized silver color to look "gas tank-ish". Next up: seam sealer over all seams, "black star" rust converter on all areas that have surface rust (after cleaning them up), then the Lizard Skin sound control.
