Still will look great Arne but I miss the patina; I can still admire Wngrog's however!!

Patina is great when it's original paint, or what's left of it. But when the original has been poorly painted over 3-4 times it's no longer good patina, it's just sloppy paint. Time to start over.

FWIW - if mine had looked like it did but the paint was original, I'd never have touched it.

You’ll be allowed back on here in 45 years. See you then.

Forgive me, Patina, for I have sinned...

I posted this picture (and a few more) on p

I can't believe this is the first time I'm seeing this picture!!! Amazing.

Just went back through the thread and saw my comment from before. haha. nvm. Nonetheless, still cool to see it there when this is how I see it now...

When I put the Warthog together with the donor hood I simply wiped some boiled linseed oil on the exposed rust and rolled out.

I’ve got some downtime doing suspension work so I decided to do the full CLR/BLO treatment on the hood today.

I rattlecaned the fenders so I needed to put a little shine on the hood to match

Turned out great.

@oregon fj - I’m in the same boat, my cruiser doesn’t have “cool” patina like all of @wngrog ‘s do... I really hate to strip off the original paint as my tub is pretty solid, but my top and doors are cancerous. Not sure how to patch them up while maintaining the patina, unless the primer just becomes part of the patina...

My guess is I’ll be banned from this thread in a couple years too...

Very cool love the OEM floor shift you hardly ever see those didn’t realize that is how they came to the Canadian market.

Yep. It seems odd that the Canadian spec rigs were a little different even back then. I think 1965 was the first year for Toyota in Canada. Personally, I have always liked column shifters. I think that the three person front bench seat would be a lot more believable with a clear transmission hump.

That was actually an improvement from where we found it. The PO was going to make a fertilizer spreader for his fields out of it and a 77 we dragged home to rescue both. It was stored in a lean to open on 3 sides, the 77 was worse than yours tho

I guess I could cross-post a pic of some of the coolest patina in my book
