You sure about this? My May 76 has lap belts but my November 76 (titled as a 77) has the shoulder strap. Both look original. I always assumed the change was with the September model for marketing reasons. There were a couple more I have noticed like the hardtop vent windows and tube spare carrier. Maybe I just have the last of the lap belts!

Quote - My info was off SOR's website. Generally anything post mid sixties is correct. The early years stuff for the FJ40 is listed as 58 to a date which isn't correct. Later the only thing that stands out as possibly as wrong is the 71 seats. All the 71 seats I have seen were split back with the center fixed section for a emissions tank. They show that as only 72. I would like to see a 71 seat that didn't had the fixed section. 70 to 71 the latch that lock the back upright changed so a single back section with the would be easy to tell.

Now I wonder if the PO swapped in the lap belts off of an earlier 40. I do know he was a hunter and took off the hardtop a lot on his trips. Maybe he was tired of no shoulder mounting points when the top was off. Thanks for the info!

That would make sense. With the top off they would be no seats belts at all on the three point seat belts before being moved to the rollbar. I would be curious to see a picture of the 1/76 three point seat belts installed to the top. Curious if they were tha same as on the 77s. I don't have a 77 but do have a hard top from 77 with the three point seat belt brackets.

Just to confuze the matter further...... my 78 FJ45 had the three point anchored to the removable top. Not relevant, I know :)

Pics if my 01/76 shoulder belt attached to the hard top. When I take the top off I move the retractor to the hole just below where it is at now. You can see the bolt hole in the tub right below where it sits now. The upper piece I attach to the upper roll bar bolt. I don't l ow if that's by design but seems to work.

No confusion. I was able to get a set of those brackets from the top corner out of Canada. Plan on installing three point seat belts in my 65 FJ45LP-B. I first seen a set on a 80 pickup cap a friend of mine had bought. It wa out of Canada. Canada was the only market that I know of that got those markets. Europe and Australia had a fixed nut at the top something like the 73 thru 77 FJ40 had.

That is the same bracket at the base like my 77 hard top has. Would like to find a set of those bracket to use in my FJ45. Not sure I would trust the hole at the top of the tub. I believe it is a smaller bolt. Those are for the safety straps that go across the door opening when the door was off. Not sure when Toyota switched to the bracket that bolted to the door catch the but fixed nut was still there for years after I believe.

front door corner seals on 1978 hardtop?
65888-90302
65889-90302
65898-90301
65899-90301
Toyota dealer is telling me the 65898-90301 & 65899-90301 are discontinued.

Those are the little weatherstrip pieces in the rear corner of the door opening.

I just ordered the pieces for the frt corners, we'll see if they actually arrive.

'77 fj40 Australian import: Anyone have these on the upper edge of the windshield frame - I have one either side. Don't seem to be on the parts list anywhere......:hhmm:

Jim, I see absolutely no apparent reason for these....interestingly enough they are the exact same profile of the OEM one on the back tailgate hinge. It's a mystery to me

the HT pad at A pillar pad, would you or anyone have a picture of exactly how this is placed? for the life of me i cannot figure this one out. or is it for specific years? mine is a 78.

thanks for any help on this.

andy

x2, I would love to see where these go...

@ Overton.....I think you're onto something there

Designator (first 5 dgits) ending in even numbers are right side. First five ending in odd is LH.

65888-90302 & 65898‑90301 are for the RH door.
65889‑90302 & 65899‑90301 are for LH side.
