Well who possesses one of these Toyota inspection socket covers then?

InspectionSocketCover.jpg

I've certainly never seen one.

Edit:

And whose seen one of these "rubber caps" as pictured covering the inspection socket on a 1964 model:

:hhmm: I've never thought of my passengers as "driver assistants" before. (But then I suppose if I'm truthful I'd have to admit that I may have always needed assistance. :D)

BTW - The pic refers to an FJ55 but surely the fortys must have got them too?

All of our 55s (3) and the '62 40 have those covers...later 40s had flush mounted plugs and did not have the covers.

I have the light, but I've never had the cover. :-(

:hhmm: Why does Charlton Heston's voice saying "from my cold dead hands" immediately spring to mind?

I know .....

There are people on this site who would probably kill to get their hands on such rare seldom-seen land cruiser parts.

And you hold THREE!

Edit .... FOUR (I can't count.)

:D

I'm sure Charlton Heston also said "Money Talks"...
No need to take a life, we take pay-pal.

Speaking of plastic plugs, Ige mentioned that she had never seen these plugs in a 55 speedo housing (they cover the mounting screws)...so, they must be rare. I've always had them there, so I took them for granted.

Not exactly Toyota, though it does say Toyota on it...early aftermarket valve cover.
Assuming pre-2F, as it uses the F cork gasket.
(Clifford was into making 6-banger drag racers, that could beat a V-8, hence their logo 6=8). Apparently, they made some 'Cruiser stuff. I have not seen many of these.

@JohnnyC pointed me to this thread, so I'll play.

My supplier gave me a bunch of these - Part # 68191-90300, and I was stumped on where it goes. With some research, I'm 90% sure this is it:

I'll be adding this part to my unobtainium store.

I have never seen this part. I'm reasonably sure it was never used on FJ40's in the USA. Looks like the parts reference is a BJ42-KC Soft Top (1982/10 - 1984/10) which would explain why I've never seen it. It is not present on this showroom original 1980 FJ40 with 7400 miles and there's no evidence it was ever there. I like it however and the part makes sense. Thanks for offerring it.

I'm intrigued. If you search on ToyoDIY for USA, it does pop up. I tend to agree with you though. This is in deep rarity category; probably only seen on Halloween night.

After seeing that last pic it reminded me of the garage door weather strip I found at Lowe's or Home Depot. I went outside and found some. I tried to mimic what was posted and it looks kinda close.

I need to look at this thread more often! I want to update you all that I DID go ahead and reproduce the bumper or cushion that attaches to the tubular swing out tire carrier for the FJ40 - 77 thru 83. The cushion prevents damage to your amby door when opened against the tire carrier.

The part is manufactured out of urethane and does not include the little protrusion that snapped into the hole on the tire carrier. The tooling for this was problematic and cost prohibitive. So this repro part is mounted to the tire carrier using a simple drywall anchor in the hole and a screw to attach (not included). You will find it on eBay or at Cruiser Corp or you can get it for a little less from my parts website here. - FJ40 Tire Carrier Bumper 77-83
