Brakes on my brothers 200 today. He left around 5:30 so I started the removal process of the leaking steering gear box. Have an 80 box I had resealed by West TX Offroad a few years back. Was going to put it on my blue 60 and give her my 60 box. Not really wanted to do two box swaps and my oldest said he’d rebuild a spare 80 box he has and put in a 105 shaft (I have to pay for it) so it was a no brainer. The copper 60 is getting an 80 box since that’s the only good one in my shop. Everything is disconnected and it’s ready to pull out, but I’ll tackle that another evening this week or possibly next weekend

If you have any puzzling vibrations after installing the 80 box I know a guy that is an expert in trouble shooing that

Hell yeah…we have brakes on the 60. Tested the current and donor booster. Quick swap and brakes are awesome. You may recall everything is new on all 4 corners including the master.

Also swapped in a WTOR resealed 80 box. Checking things off on the punch list. Drove the 60 to the farm to market Hwy outside my hood and back. Furthest this truck has run in over 10 years and she ran awesome.

AC works under its own power now. Pulled the center bezel and learned the radio wire clip is identical to the AC activation wire clip. Yep…I’m the first to acknowledge my F-ups. Swapped the wire to the correct plug and no bueno. Hmmm…maybe I fried the switch (little blue button) or possible just a bad switch. Will never know as I just swapped a donor in and she works flawlessly.

Last update for the morning…some may remember that Christmas’s of 2019 a random package showed up and all the package said was “From Santa”. It was a pristine OEM 60 radio. Never figured out who bought it for me. It’s confirmed that there’s many good souls in this community of ours. Can’t recall why but I knew it was the radio that Nate @mattressking was selling and he is good to his word and won’t tell me who the anonymous buyer/donor was. So fast forward to this week and I open the box for the first time. Not only is there a very clean radio, but there’s three very sweet OEM speakers in the box (2 door/1 6x9). I decided this 60 going to the mother of my boys is more than worthy of receiving this set up :).
Last thought…I was considering installing this gem of a wheel, but leaning towards a factory correct wheel since the rest of the truck is spec (to the best of my abilities).

The only other steering wheel like that I've ever seen is in my truck 😎

I will say it's a bit larger in diameter. Useful for tough steering situations, like in the rocks. Can't go wrong with the original though.

Yes sir, he’s about 12-15 miles as the crow flies. A bit further via the farm to market highways. He’s a really good dude.
Yep. Hoping a good friend of mine will get to take Betty for her first test drive tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed. Just wish I could be the one to do it but won't be in Texas until the 21st and want to get her on the ship ASAP.

Man…if you’re that close on the 21st you need to swing by for a beer if you have the time.

Definitely. I've been creeping around that area of the hill country for 50 years...is like a second home to me. :) And my Dad, a sister and a brother all had houses ~150 yards from Danny's place. And some friends of mine and I used to rent Fischer Dance Hall for an annual dance party. We'd get bands like Two Tons of Steel, Chapparal (friends of mine) and Jim Lauderdale to play. Always a blast.

Yep. Came off a Canadian BJ60 I had years ago.
Yep, the early 81 only (or maybe 81-82) wheel for the optional non-power steering BJ60s in Canada. And as far as I can tell it was Canada only. Saw a photo of one a few years back and chased one down. Like I’ve told you, part of the goal for my 60 is “what if the US had an upper trim level 60?” so I’ve thrown some optional non-US market stuff at it. Not that non-power steering would be found on an upper trim level, but it’s a unique piece. Same with my Euro side markers and mirrors, inclinometer (for the clock!), sliding cargo windows, and light up choke knob.

That’s a great idea and like it. Always seeking the really cool stuff we did not get here. Curious about the wheel as the BJ I had was a 1983 and it did have PS.

Ah….ive been to a few venues at the dance hall. Really cool place. I’m 10 min from there via the pavement. My youngest son was a pin-setter at the 9-pin bowling alley across the parking lot from the dance hall.

It’s all kind of fuzzy to me since there isn’t a whole lot of info out there, but from what I’ve been able to gather the larger wheel was to give you more leverage on the non-power steering trucks. Your truck could have been retrofitted with PS, or I could be wrong! There’s not much data so I’ve filled in the blanks a little bit.

Hi guys. I'm just about finished with my roof rust repair and will be installing my Cruiser Corps headliner soon. I've looked through this thread a bunch of times and can't find with install video. Are there any direct links?

Me too, doing the horn ring & pin. Have the steering wheel off & just picked up the ring & pin this afternoon.

Great minds think alike.👍🤔👍
