Installed a new 'ash tray' as mine was missing the metal stopper spring-plate and about twice a year I'd pull it out to far and dump the contents on the floor...very annoying. The color of the new one isn't the right gray, but I don't care, so much nicer to not have it fall out.

Also replaced my s***ty non-oem antenna. I was bummed initially, thinking I ordered the wrong antenna as I thought there's no way it was going to fit. Then I realized that it doesn't mount vertically, but rather follows the line of the windscreen angle. I was looking at pulling the door off, then realized I could get to it from below. long arms are very helpful. Noticed there's a factory mounting hole for the base, right in the correct spot and viola!

I think I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but on my way home from purchasing it in Alabama, I flipped the driver's visor down and found the backside of the visor stained with what looked like blood and 'matter' . As I was looking for the factory spot to route the antenna cable, I noticed a blob of silicone on the firewall. I picked and pulled it off and found the exit point for the bullets that probably killed the P.O. The angle of the exit look like it came down from above and behind and to the right of the driver. Caliber looks like about a 9mm hole.

😬 There is no emoji for this!!

Wow…

Might I suggest a smugging of the Cruiser? 😑

That’s some crazy stuff Dan. Seems a suicide is not possible. Just curious, do you know what country your Troopy hails from?

Cheers

The guys I bought it from were kind of vague on that point. When I asked, they just said 'North Africa' .

I’d just assume Libya. Make up a story about Ghadaffi using it as a getaway.

3D-printed a face-plate for the Auber gages I recently purchased. As other's have done, decided to use the cubby just above the radio. It's just a bit too shallow for the Auber gauges and the wires for the sensors, so I put a couple stand-offs on the edges, the middle flange wedges the center of the plate in the cubby, not sure it's necessary.

When I acquired this engine, I drilled a hole in the flange the turbo bolts to on the exhaust manifold for the EGT probe. I didn't think it would take me four years to finally install said probe...

Put the pressure transducer on the backside of the plastic crossover pipe coming out of the turbo as there's a nipple molded into that piece already that I had plugged. Didn't get a photo of that yet.

I've only driven it once since the install, but I just drove like I've been driving it for the last 4 years and was surprised at how hot the EGTs were getting. I was seeing much hotter that what is said to be 'acceptable' on here and other parts of the inter-webs. I've done no adjustments to the fuel or boost. Need to drive it a bit more and take better notes as to peak values and durations.

Installed a new actuator for the turbo. Stock one was set at about 8 p.s.i., I ordered the new one from Kinugawa with a 1 atm/14.7 psi spring. Should have gone with the 1.5 bar spring, but figured I'd ease into my adjustments to the engine performance.

I had to take the cover off and clock the fitting so I could hook up the hose to it. I think this is set up for a 1HD-T and the turbo is in a different position on that engine.

Sheesh!

Let's look at the bright side! At least the troopy escaped virtually unscathed, and lived to tell the tale! 👍

Not super easy, but I figured it out...a little googling and re-reading the directions and it wasn't too bad. The wire colors didn't match the directions and I had to check continuity on them to figure out which sender wire went where and the programing of the boost sensor took a minute to figure out. It's similar to programming my old house thermostat, there's three buttons that change 6 or 8 setpoints, takes a minute to figure out the sequence, but once you get it, its not bad.

Turned my max fuel screw in about 1/4 turn...dicked with it for about an hour I think, using an inspection mirror and flashlight, scraped up my wrist. Finally pulled the whole thing out and discovered it had a lock-ring spot-welded on it preventing it from screwing in any further.

IMG_20210807_151441465.jpg

Drilled the spot welds out and removed the ring.

Put a spot of paint-marking on the threads and turned the screw in about 1/4 turn. Ended up raising the rpms from 650-ish to 800. Adjusted the idle back down to 700-ish. I haven't driven it yet, but my wife did and she thinks it has more pep. She hadn't driven it since I put the new actuator on though.

Rig data:
Model: BJ75
Motor: 14B-T
Turbo: Yes - Stock CT26
Intercooler: No
Tires: 255/85/16 (like 33x10.5)
Exhaust: 2.5"
EGT probe location: Pre turbo/Exhaust flange where turbo is mounted
Trans: 5 speed - H55
Diff: 4.11 (std)

Cruising Data:
Speed: 110 km/h (63 mph)
RPM: 2350
GPS or Speedo: Both
Ambient Temp: 68 F (20C)
Altitude : 2700 ft (822 meters)
Boost: 7.0 psi
EGT Temp: 860 to 950 F (450 to 505 C)
From an EGT thread. I hit 1400F on long climbs, I don't drive it any different than I did the last 4 years without the EGT. I just did a 2000 mile road trip w/no issues, adding the higher psi spring to the turbo actuator and turning up the fuel a tad has made it a different vehicle. Hasn't seemed to change the mpg or EGTs at all either.

Hey mate, I need to replace my clutch in my 14BT and I was wondering if you knew which clutch you used in yours? I've got a H55F box behind mine as well. I did have a look back through your posts, but I couldn't see if you had any part numbers?

Thanks Mate

P.s. I've done a few videos of my 14BT in my 40 on YouTube in case you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1iC_aERNw4iCjGWMS0V_7A

I used an Aisin clutch for a 13BT I think. Can't find a part number, but will look more tomorrow.

If you were closer, you could have one of these...

I used and Exedy on my last 3b turbo and had no issues.

I have checked out your videos, thanks.
