These look great, when are they back in stock?
Greetings.... any update on the DIY set? ThxI'm actively working on a DIY set. Will be more work for the buyer (drilling holes, wiring, etc.) But will be substantially cheaper.
Stay tuned!
Greetings.... any update on the DIY set? Thx
The glue on mine (3m -adhesive backing) failed within a week. Summers here in Arizona are brutal. I cleaned the frame meticulously before adhering the strips.
To remedy the issue... I bought gorilla glue and glued them on. I also feel a quality right stuff rtv would work well.
I'm still working on it.
My main dilemma is I can go two ways with the diy. It could essentially be a basic bracket with no holes that requires the user to drill.
Or, I could build it around a standardized size of light. Like these:
Then the user could decide on cheap Amazon, or expensive and not have to drill.
Any input is appreciated!
My 2 cents: I could build something myself from some aluminum from HD, amazon lights, and the cut the plugs off my running board lights for less than I'd have to pay you to do something similar - but then I'd have to be willing to measure it all out, drill the holes, solder/butt connect the wires with extra length in between, and figure out which lights will work best.
If you're going to build a DIY kit, I'd rather not have to think about the hard stuff like how much wire I need, what lights fit, if I can drill the holes in the right spots, and whether I want to cut the light connectors off my (removed) running boards. If those things are taken care of and all I have to do is put it together and bolt it on, I'm sold. If I have to take the chance of drilling the holes wrong or something even if I buy a kit, I'd rather just put it together myself and save the extra money.
As above An all inclusive ‘diy kit’ assembly only required (!) would interest me
Just a quick update. I keep getting questions about these, so I dove in head first. I think I have a really good design that will allow the user to buy cheapo amazon, or expensive lights and still be super easy to install. I have to get it perfect, so please bear with me. I suspect a few weeks before I have the brackets in hand, then I can start shipping. This kit should be very reasonably priced considering I dont have to source lights any longer.
