The annual Upstate Cruisers 'Over the Mountain Tour' (OTMT) is scheduled for August 17-19, Friday through Sunday, at Snowbird Recreation Area and Crawford's Campground and Cabin Rentals.

Snowbird is 3,600 acres of private property located about 15 or so minutes from Crawford's. We are still mapping trails but think there are around 50 miles of forest roads and trails ranging from mild to wild. Most trails are easy with some intermediate trails (more are currently being developed) and a difficult rock crawling area called "The Bowl." Additional points of interest include several fishing ponds, two plane crash sites, and Buzzards Roost overlook (an awesome scenic spot).

Snowbird is private property that can only be accessed by a limited group of members and their guests. This means the area is pretty quiet and you typically won't see more than a handful of people who are not in your group during an entire day. Many of the trails are loop trails which means there won't be a ton of backtracking.

OTMT will have wheeling Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Feel free to wheel everyday, just 1, or even stay in camp @ Crawford's. Crawford's has a rock garden to play in, is family friendly (has a campground, laundry, bathroom and shower facilities), and has accommodations from primitive camping to fully furnished cabins.

Since Snowbird is private all guests will be escorted by members. Each member is allowed 5 guests - that could be 5 guests in 1 vehicle or 5 guests in 5 vehicles. Cost to enter Snowbird is $25/person/day for adults and $10/person/day for children 14 and under (non-driving age) which must be paid in advance so we can secure enough members to escort everyone on the property. These members wheel so don't worry about having to drag someone around. We typically leave Crawfords by 9 am and get back around 6 pm so you will get a full day of wheeling for your $. Entry fees are refundable minus PayPal fees if you cancel and someone else then takes your spot.

To reserve your spot to enter Snowbird please go to Southeast Overland Adventures, choose the August Over the Mountain Tour event, enter your data, and submit the form. Once I get that I'll send a PayPal invoice for payment or you can mail a check. Once your money is received your spot is reserved.

To reserve camping spots or cabins please call Crawford's Campground and Cabin Rentals. Their # is 828-837-9077 and their website is Home. Danny or Lynn will answer and tell them you are with the Upstate Cruisers event so everyone can camp together (if you want).

More information about the property can be found at Southeast Overland Adventures. If you have any questions please post up, send me a PM, or email Steve@SoutheastOverlandAdventures.com.

Added for a bit of clarification - anyone is welcome to come. We do have a limited number of open spots to get people into Snowbird. If you would like to attend and have a spot reserved for your entry then your spot needs to be paid for so a member of Snowbird can be present. In the past prepayment has not been required and we had about 40% of people who said they were showing not, which equaled several members left out to dry. :frown:

I didn't make it up this hill. There is a nice little rocky section just above this.

I hope to see you there!

Tentative, will see as we get closer. I have to see where the kids schedules and sports/school hit first.

If I can get the case done and front axle done i'm in. Will know for a fact once we get closer...

Count me in on this one. Love that place!

I'm going to try and make this, my 50th is on the 16th, so this can be my big b-day present!!

How is it that Crick hasn't posted up about attending? We all know he likes to float downstream clinging to a cooler.

We've got this on our calendar. Looking forward to it.

Not sure if Crick's 60 can make it that far. I will say one thing. I am not following Crick or gimpy on the way there. Last time i followed gimpy we got passed by a prius on the way to annual.

Hmmmm, now is that sig line worthy... :hmm:

If we can get enough rigs to OTMT we can have a rock garden and blind folded driving comp.

man please.... My 2f needs to last forever!!

Being a cheap bastard, I need to know, do kids cost the $25/day too? In any case, I want to be there, just need to see if I need to save for it or if it'll just be me.

My boys and I may make this. They will be back in school so would be a late Friday arrival...if we can work it out. Don't know what sports are going to be like yet.

I'm giving a $5 discount for kids. Members are only allowed 5 guests, no matter if it is an adult or a 1 year old so if I don't charge for kids members are working for free. I hate to do it but I have to be fair to the members who are coming out to let UC'rs in.
