Trust me - if you were in my head you would be :bang::bang::bang:.

I thought about a solid front axle but the cost to do it like I'd want to on the FJC was too high. Instead a Total Chaos 2" long travel front, plus a MetalTech long travel rear set up is on the way for the FJC. Woot!!!!

I am toying with beefy ifs with heavy tie rods and RCVs now...plus a rear locker and 35s for way less than an sas

We are officially off topic - but who cares. At least this thread has some life!

I'm staying away from beefy tie rods b/c I'd rather the stock ones bend then something happen to more costlier front IFS components. I'm also sticking with OEM CVs but will have 2" extended axles and carry a spare.

Next step will be an Atlas, then an ARB air locker in the front.

I'm doing the front and rear long travel set up, four link rear (not doing 3 yet), replacing my current lower trailing links, in the front new LCA, UCA, coil overs, CVs, extended tie rods, limit straps, plus a few little things here and there for a third or less than just the price of front SAS components. That's not a totally fair comparison due to the pricing I get but still - it's a ton cheaper.

Yes, I'm still thinking long travel on the rear axle, but the new MT 4 link hybrid is probably the way I'll go. It's fairly new and I've only seen one picture of it in action. What I like about it are the reduction in cost compared to their 3-link (which still isn't available as a kit) and it doesn't require as much modification to the axle housing or frame rails.

Basically the rear lower link position is moved from under the axle (where it binds) to the front of the axle.

from LT on FB: This works with your existing OEM 4 link. Since most aftermarket lower links bind on the axle tube at full droop we have also come out with our new rear lower links with the axle bushing offset so the link tube clears the axle at full droop with no bind. They also feature Currie Johnny Joints and 100% custom CNC machined DOM tubeing and come with new Grade 8 bolts w/nylocks for mounting and fully powder coated black. The links ala-cart are not on the site yet but are in stock and available for $325 a set.

That's what I have - just waiting on the rear lower links to come in. The rear lower links still mount to the factory location on the rear axle - the difference is the links are offset so they don't bind on the axle tube.

Southeast Overland is a MT dealer BTW... :grinpimp:

Well fellas - it looks like this trip isn't gonna happen as we don't have anyone signed up and there are only a few days before the trip is supposed to begin. Thanks to everyone who tried to make it. Hopefully we will see each other on the trails soon.
