FWIW, this tidbit about the Power Steering return line filter was posted by Jim C about 15 years ago and I looked into it and he was absolutely right.

I run the Magna filter with Amsoil Dex Trans fluid and it made an old noisy stock PS pump work perfectly.

I run them on every vehicle I have except the early 40s with Armstrong steering 😜

:meh:

Edit…

Glad you got it sorted out. Blue keeps getting better.

Took a break and helped my buddy @USMC22 score another abandoned truck.

Got back and buttoned it back up to clear the rack while the box is off to Redhead

This came off easy. It’s crazy how close the holes are to make an 80 box work.

I decided to wire up the Harrop lockers today after I installed some beautiful new Aisin hubs with OEM hardware.

The wiring took forever because I redid everything and ran all the 12v stuff to a panel versus the battery.

I added the switches into the center console.

I’m going to have to make a face plate to cover the butchery at some point.

Did you cut those holes blind folded with a skill saw....lol

Man. Pretty much. The first one on the right I totally totally butchered but the one on the drivers side is only slightly awful. I’ll figure out some way to mask it where I don’t hate myself.

Jb weld made me feel good about myself a hand full of times. 🤣

Took the 80 axle to the Tig wizard to have the perches welded on nice and level.

Man. He’s such a perfectionist

Sweet welding table! 80s leaf spring axles sound great. Are you doing front and rear?

Just the rear. It’s 3” wider so I’m running front 1” spacers. You won’t be able to tell the difference.

Got the new pump installed and added a filter to the return line so I’ll be driving thing thing pretty quickly after the steering box lands

Was collecting all the crap needed to put this axle together and can’t find some of the ebrake parts. I think I’ll build up one side, see what Im missing and order it and just not have an ebrake for a bit while those parts make their way here.

Can’t imagine where I put the ebrake pads and arm I’m missing.

Muddled my way through one side of the ebrake with the parts I has on hand.

I look down and damn if it’s not the missing drum shoe parts.

No idea at all how those parts got there but now I have to locate some wheel studs and I’ll be able to put the other side together and stuff this axle home

I’m interested to know how that red head steering box handles. I did mine in the garage a few months ago and I can’t seem to get the slop out of it. Either I did something wrong putting it back together or it’s a bad unit. The truck wanders like crazy ever since I messed with it.

Same. Wondering about feel, new vs. old. (Redhead currently showing sold out.) And did PS pump come from City Racer?

If you eliminated the other items (steering shaft joint, tie rod ends and caster) then you could have a bad box.

I generally like to send them a known good box. Mine was. No wander.

If you adjust their box you void the warranty.

They told me that they won’t rebuild one that is out of spec.

As for being out of stock, it took 2 weeks to ship and receive mine and that was 4 days on each side shipping

CR does not have pumps right now. This one is still available via Toyota for around $350. I used a new CR pulley but transferred my Woodruff key, nut and washer
