Then was able to add new door seals the PO had purchased.
They went on great and fit exactly as they should.
Used 3M 8001 adhesive and had no issues. well except maybe one part got a little sloppy.
But for all the issues I’ve read about, fortunately I didn’t have any.
Did all doors except the driver.
The new seals are not quite as thick as the originals, but they appear to seal up good.
Have the typical door striker interference when closing. I’m just being gentle for now.

New shoes last night.
Have some opportunities with passenger side rear cylinders.
Rusted and had to adjust with a hammer. Eventually got moving, but not great.
Lots of gunk, rust and dark brown fluid came out when bleeding.
Ordering new. Should arrive Wednesday.
Drivers rear looked about perfect. Nice and dry and clear fluid when bleed.

Added a few more touches to the FJ over the last couple weekends.
Hexagon sound deadener for the firewall.
Thought is would look a bit more interesting than it actually turned out to be.
Also the glue on the back of them wasn’t as strong as it needs to be.
3M super 90 helped out.
I’m indifferent on it for the time being.

I bet it will make a difference!

Those look great! Do you know what door seals the PO bought?

Been a while for a post.
Lots happening this year already.

Recent updates are tailgate window rubber from @2fpower and I flushed the radiator and replaced hoses.
Probably should have done that last year, but oh well, didn’t look in too bad of condition.
Was a bit of a challenge getting the hose to fit the Chevy side, but eventually got it.
Changed the oil and checked fluids.
Otherwise, been a daily driver!!

Up next.
Need to replace rear brake hoses and the front center brake hose.
Need to figure out what to do with the sunroof. The gasket is shot.

In search of 1978 rear passenger ash tray cover and roof rack if anyone has any ideas.
Then everything starts getting expensive….lift, wheels and tires.

man that looks good!

3/4” Keep on keeping on with the rear tailgate.
Added side and bottom seals
Caused a bit of an issue, but also a surprise.
Side seals are 3/4”
Tailgate bottom seal is 1”, 3M taped on.
There is a little bit of a gap between the new rear window seal and side 3/4” seals.
Trimmed a bit of the crimp side of the seal to mate it to the new window seal.
Worked well….the second time.
Super happy with the outcome and can’t believe the difference it makes in quieting down the interior.
But.
On first test drive, happy with the quiet, I accidentally hit the rear window down switch…and it worked!!??
Had no idea. I tried and tried before, but what I came to realize is the ignition had to be “on” to work. Not sure I ever tried it before that way.
Unfortunately up does not work.
So, got home from work and tried the key. Nothing. No up or down.
Super.
Figured it was the seals being too large and maybe crimped the wires to the motor.
Or the kill switch couldn’t be pushed in when the tailgate is closed? Or who knows.
I figured is was the switch, so pushed in hard at that point on the tailgate and money! Window down.
Open tailgate, to take some pics for you all, closed the tailgate and the window wouldn’t go up.
Under further inspection the plastic striker that pushes that switch in was loose.
Tightened it up and back in action. Whew.

Not too much is happening with the pig other that daily driver now.
After the additional of the weather seals, took the opportunity to throw some fires rattle can on th tailgate.
Up next will be replacing rear brake hoses, then someday the center clutch hose.
Also have new brake cylinders for the driver side. Should have just changed them when I did the passenger side.

Snooping around under the truck today.
Any ideas that this tray is for. Drivers side rear.
Looks like I might need a new gasket for the filler.
