Good to see you are comming Travis. Looks like we will have a great time. My Jeep is having engine problems. Looks like I may have spun a bearing or I have a lifter stuck. It's at the shop now so we will see. If I can get it just running I'll just get a hitch for the pacifica and tow the boat with that. I'm planning on taking off all day Fri and going up early to do some fishing so maybe we might have some pan fried trout Friday night.

So far I have camping

Travis
Jeff
Marshall
Alex
JP and his woman
Richard
Ghen

John?(maybe)

Malph?

Comming but not camping

Alan

Who else wants to come? It looks like we are going to have some great weather.

And JP have you decided where we are going to wheel?

Well like I said above I was thinking the Burels ford to cashiers ride, nothing too challenging but it should be a nice long trail ride up through the North Georgia mountains up to Cashiers, NC and then come back down via hwy 28. I imagine this would take most of the day to do this ride. If we are lucky maybe the trees will have some color in them.......

Just me my girl isnt coming now. She is staying for a friends b-day on friday. But I paid my money and I'm to cheap not to go.

What time do you think we will start off JP?

And I think if we could make it back by 5 or 6 that would be great. That way those who cannot make the ride but who would like to join us for some viddles around the fire could come. And also those who cannot camp but want to ride would know when to be there in the morning.

I really want to go the horsepasture, walk down to the Horsepasture river waterfalls that go into Jocassee and to jump off rock, colors ought to be popping. I can be in charge of that ride if anybody is interested. Don't much feel like really hardcore stuff, just need a weekend to chill. Anybody with a baby teething will understand that.

Marshall I will talk with chuck(he's done the whole trail) because I personally haven't taken that trail the full length, I know the club did this ride before, but that was that was prior to me joining. I'll try to get the details worked out after class this afternoon......... chuck and I are going to start cutting the body apart and I will see he if he remembers anything useful about the trail.....

Travis have you done the Burels Ford to Cashiers ride before??? Any idea on time?

I don't remember a whole lot about the details of the trip, was my first time wheelin with the club like 4 years ago. But David and Henry were there, also Rick has a cabin up there and seems to be the guru on trails.

Either trail is an all day (10-5) event.

well, I have been trying on google all day to find anything I could on Burrell's ford road and where It comes out in highlands...... think I pretty much have it nailed down, just wish I could get some topos of the area since they show old logging roads and such and that is what we are going to be taking. Marshall do you have access to online topo maps??? or anyone for that matter......

So it sounds like we should leave out of camp about nineish and will be back around 5 to 6 if all goes well.

After talking with chuck the trail doesn't sound very difficult especially with all of us riding on 33's and locked, should be fun, from I have been reading on line the area is very rugged and isolated terrian

Well, thought I would introduce myself and hopefully meet you this weekend for the Horsepasture ride. After years of wanting a Land Cruiser finally got one last year and would like to "use" it some. Yes, it is as stock as a 100 could be so for now it is a little weak as far as trails go. (Things are going a little slower than I hoped as far as upgrades, but with time.)

Scott

Maybe this could help? If you know the direction that it runs into the Highlands you should be able to find it and arrow over.

A little slow, but the full size map does show a fair amount of info. not as good as a survey map though.

Welcome Scott, hope to see you out there this weekend.

JP, you sure are running with my idea of this ride. Good thing we made you the events planner.

Welcome Scott.

Well this looks like we are going to have two groups for rides. Which is what I wanted in the first place. Because it will allow those who don't want to wheel hard and possible get some damage to go out and have fun with there cruiser. Thank you Travis for stepping up to the plate.

So we will have travis leading the Horse Pasture trip and JP leading the Burells Ford trip.

Travis when are you planning on leaving Sat? So maybe some others who don't want to camp but want to get out in the woods with there cruiser can show up.

Alex and I are planning on going up early on Friday morning and trolling for trout. If anyone would like to join in you are more than welcome. I have room for two more. Chime in if you want to come.

As far as food. It looks like ten or so people will be showing up for the trip the whole weekend. So I figure I'll buy enough food for a simple weekend.
Breakfast sat morning and Sunday morning
Eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrows, coffee
Sandwhich food for lunch with chips and such. Nothing fancy
And Hamburgers friday night with chips and maybe JPs dip?
Sat night some bonless jerk chicken (it's spicy!) and mashpotatoes
How does that sound?
I've got plates and stuff to eat with covered.

Oh and Bloody Mary's in the morning :D

Alcohol need to be kept on the low down. Remember we are in a state park. We keep it in a cup and we will be good to go. On the boat you can drink how you want as I usually use the boat as my trash can. :D Will be fun.

I'm planning on bringing the camcorder and camera and will take pics for the club. Travis can one of you guys remember to bring a camera so we can get some pics of ya'lls ride?

I'm getting stoked. I go get the boat out of storage tomorrow. :bounce:

Post up where yall are meet for the trail rides.....I plan on trying to shoot over Saturday morning unless someone has a slot I could park my truck and sleep in Friday night. I'll have to leave after the ride..too much to do and not enough time.

Welcome, Scott.

Looking forward to meeting you and your Cruiser!

John: Can you hook up with us Friday night? Just drop in, we'll find a place for you to settle in.

Also, fellas: Troll forgot to mention that there will be a charge of $10 -$15 for all the meals that he will be preparing.
