Ok so we still have the same unanswered questions:

1. Is Mike Papp no longer involved with the project as you told Ward Harris during a recent phone call?

2. Will you present some verifiable piece of documentation that you have imported one vehicle and are importing another vehicle for pre-approved EPA and NHTSA compliance testing and modification?

  • Michael Papp is my brother and a mechanical genius, and the idea for this venture was entirely his. That said, I am not my brothers keeper and Michael Papp does not retain any interest in LC America as owner, creditor, licensee, contingent beneficiary, etc. either in his own name or through an intermediary.

Ward claimed that in your phone conversation, you stated that your brother is no longer involved in the operation. Is he or is he not involved in the operation? This is a yes or no question. Saying he has no ownership interest is not the same as answering whether or not he is no longer involved, as you claim.

So we:
  • Provided detailed timelines -- and that was not enough.

Timelines for what? When SEMA is? When you have a mystery container arriving? When you plan to sell trucks? What does this "detailed" timeline prove?

  • Extended an invitation to visit in NJ and CO -- and that was not enough.

Unless you're going to show paperwork, this means nothing.

  • Provided a shipping manifest -- and that was not enough.

You absolutely did not provide a shipping manifest. You provided a screenshot of a container schedule. We don't know if the container has anything to do with you. So easily solvable with a copy of the BL or ANY of the import paperwork, but nothing.

  • Are prepared to show a vehicle at SEMA -- and apparently that is still not going to be enough.

Again, if you're not showing paperwork, having the vehicle does very little to prove that you are in the process of legalization.

Thoroughly disheartening. I truly do believe that I gave this forum an honest shot...

You tap dance around questions and provide answers that have substance without any hard verifiable details.

  • Exemption Number: 2016-NOVEMBER-LD-TEST-I-6403-VIN-JTFBB71J2G4321549
  • Exemption Number: 2017-MAY-LD-TEST-I-7421-VIN-JTFBV71J0H7650032

The repeated question has been will you provide verifiable documentation. A petition for conformance testing would appear in the Federal Register. No such entry exists.

Again, it would take less time to provide real proof than you have spent on all these posts. An actual piece of verifiable documentation and you'd have a huge win.

I've been in touch with Mike since the second day of his fake ebay ad. I've asked over and over for some kind of something that would be proof. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing but insults and other odd comments.

Post the BL's for these trucks. Post the HS-7's. Post the 3520-1's. Post the approval letters from EPA and NHTSA. Something. There's going to be absolutely nothing revealing about this documentation except your address.

I'm still the guy with the most hope that this would happen. But instead of spending 2 minutes to post some verifiable documentation, all we get is smoke and mirrors.

If this is real, you have the power to immediately end all skepticism. Why wouldn't you?

This thread continues to go 100% exactly as I expected it would.... :-/

I too hope it turns out in the end *different* than I expect it will...

Sorry Mr Papp #2, some of us have been around the block a time or two, have learned a thing or two, and are skeptical of things that sound all too good to be true...and, dare I say, rightly so!

But yes, I would also love to be wrong...

Folks, I must confess that I've been holding out on everybody. The last time I was in Tokyo a couple years ago I came across a double-cab VDJ79 for sale. I said to myself "I am not going home without that truck." I bought it, and decided I would take my chances getting it into the US. I was nervous, but the customs agent didn't scrutinize anything. He simply stamped my papers and sent me on my way. He must have been towards the end of his shift. As you'll be able to see from the picture once I find it, I don't take the truck out much for fear of the car-crushing import police getting wind of it. I must admit, it's exhilarating sitting on this contraband vehicle even if I can't get it out on the road. Please don't rat me out. Photo coming shortly...

And to think Papps is looking to get $70K+ for the exact same thing from an unknowing sole.

Our only hope is people that have the kind of cash needed are smart enough to do a little bit of homework before they give lieing, circle talking criminals money.

To update those following along at home.

I received some emails from Mike Papp.

They're answer is no to releasing or showing anyone the paperwork I've mentioned.

This came from Mike Papp so yes he is still involved in the business.

My questions are answered. ;)

That's what Mike just emailed me. In one of his rants, he said something about not posting his emails, so I didn't.

But easy fix! Just post it up or send someone an email. Quick and easy to solve!

Here ya go though.

michael papp said:
I won't send the applications, (HS-7 and 3520-1) because I am not conducting an instructional course.

These are check-box forms with supporting paperwork. There's a check-box for bringing in a vehicle for compliance testing. Nothing would be instructional about it. It isn't being sent because it does not exist*.

*edit: This is my working theory based on everything so far, as stated repeatedly, I'd love to be wrong! I've never wanted to look like an idiot so badly in my life! Please show me I'm wrong and that legalized 70's are in the works! But it's going to have to be better than a spy shot or a VIN. Papers please! You've got one on the ground and one on the way. Import docs for these vehicles would end the discussion!

I have also received the 'Please not post my emails" response in the past from someone claiming to be Mike. I really like the full disclosure confidence builder the owners (who ever they are) give you, right.

It would not be a surprise with the past that John & Mike is the same person:rofl::worms::flush:

We need to find someone in Japan to help us do a group buy of those - then have a build thread where we all compare our paint & assembly choices...

I haven't built a kit in 36 years.

I live in Tokyo and could help out, but its probably just easier to order it form Amazon.
