Jackson had one for sale or I have multiple hand held radios.

Sweet - another 60. just remember to wait for me, I didnt get the fancy V8 conversion

Tell your Dad to get in, sit down, and hold on - were goin' for a ride! :steer:

Ill see if I can go find a inexpensive Cb to put in my ride before Sunday

I also have a portable cig lighter power CB with a magnetic antenna set available also.

I'm trying to get my antenna from the group buy before sunday. All I need to do is get the antenna tuned.

No real tuning on the rubber duck. Matt Tilden may have a magnet antennae you could borrow for the day if he isn't going in the 80.

Jackson said I could borrow his antenna, so I should be good to go.

No real tuning on the rubber duck. ...

They have the SWR adjuster, same as the firestick, etc, likely a good idea. I haven't done mine, have a SWR meter,,, somewhere?

I also have a spare antenna.

ok so i was disillusioned...

OK, so now she sits at the body shop waiting for the dent guy to see what he can do (haha) about the multitude of dents. I know, Im not kidding myself, a polished turd and all - but maybe take out the worst of the worst dents :meh: I told him to make it a 100 footer vs a 200 footer

I went to the Boonies and saw Monarch71 who was parting out his 60 and scored several parts that either were broken or crumbled upon touching (gotta love old rigs in AZ :hillbilly:)

So...going in soon to replace broken/mangled items after some dent removal of some nature.... If he tries at all! Im feeling good mechanically except for the set of 4 outer tie rods from cruiser outfitters when they come in. vehicle runs very well, no leaks, and AC is ice cold. Now to focus on the trim items newly obtained >>

Straight rear bumper
Left rear inner side panel
Front TOYOTA grill emblem (shout out to KingBeeIII ) which is not blue anymore. repainted stock-ish colors
Right side Mudflaps F and R
Rear done light assy
Front headlight washer fluid resevoir
Rear tailgate carpet assy

Got the rear inside tire mount completed last month.

side note: Noticed that I get same gas mileage as my 80 = 12.5 mpg. Where has the $3.00 gas gone!?

You all know the routine....cant stop messing with the rig!

must....keep....tweaking....on...it...

keeps me off the streets at least.:hillbilly:

Some info I would like to share and maybe help another 60 owner:

Concerning the steering, initially it wandered pretty bad while driving down the road which was quickly improved by tightening the nuts down on 2 tie rods, Still some wander but much better.

The difference in going from tightened down tie rods to new ones was just as substantial. Kurt at Cruiser outfitters finally got a set of the 555's in and sold me the set of four. I typically am Toyota parts loyal but in this case the price difference was substantial and the build quality of the 555's were very impressive. Bottom line: Now the truck steers straight and feels very tight. I can truly relax driving down the road.

After this I also installed a new set of BFG KO's with the white letters out (old school - 1985 was all about the white letters and is appropriate for this 60 IMO :grinpimp:)

Driveline: Ive been dealing with a vibration from the undercarriage (after the lift) that would start right above 65 mph and get worse as the speed increased. The vehicle would vibrate and create a booming sound in the cabin which was almost deafening at 75mph.

I replaced the u-joints with Toyota joints and sent it out to be balanced. Upon the subsequent test drive, the noise was eliminated! :bounce:You may wonder why I even need to go over 65? Each time I bring the 60 on a group run, in order to keep up with the other CSC'rs on the freeway I must go approx 75-80. A bunch of law-breaking speed demons

Trans mount: Props to MikeOB1 who suggested I check my Transmission mount after hearing that on the recent March run the transfer case popped out of 4WD once on a tough off camber situation. It didnt do it on a couple more runs up the same hill but Mike said he has seen this same issue. Back at the shop, sure enough after removing the big skid plate we found the trans mount was bad. The new mount now holds the assy tight in place and took away the excessive movement that lead to this problem.

A/C - my expansion valve decided to stop working so upon replacement, we took the opportunity and also cleaned out the evaporator of 27 years of dust. Some new o-rings, reciever dryer, schrader valves, it now blows 26 degrees on low fan speed! Gotta love R-12...

body: The dent guy was sick and no removal of any yet. Maybe later...as long as she is in top shape mechanically, the visuals can take a back seat.

...

Not a statement that is used often to define Cruiser owners?

I have it on good authority "that 40 sure hauls ass" :hillbilly:

Hey, murf - in that first picture, it looks like you have very little clearance between the steering ball joint and the inside edge of the rim; is that just an optical illusion from the camera angle?

Looking good,
