New to me 60

Well, the 60 is finally back from the Body shop! After 6 months, alot of stud welds to pull the many dents out, she is finally done with a new coat of the original color. Hard to believe it is the same rig from when I bought her as seen in the before photo. In order to make it affordable, my contact worked on it “when time allowed” which took a ½ year but worth the wait in the end. The idea here is to keep it true to the original design from Toyota with some specific modifications like the lift, wheels, tires, lighting, spare relocation, tint and stereo.

In the meantime, I gathered up some parts to install upon return: I installed the dash pad, and had the interior done. Seat foam reworked and OE style stitching in the seat backs and bottoms. Pioneer stereo and upgraded speakers 6.5 in the front doors and 6x9’s in rear boxes.

New H4 headlights from busdepot (Ftbshop provided the great priced source) Also a new to me front bumper from a 62 series (thanks MoGas!) which is a little taller than the 60 series and required ¾ inch metal spacers for the top mount of the bumper. The bumper is a little larger and I like how it turned out.

I ended up adding 1.25" wheels spacers - the front wheels were barely kissing the front tie rod ends and when the rear tires were tucked up in the fender wells, they would lightly rub against the inside of the fender whell sheet metal. All the clearance I need now ~

A couple more items still need to be done: one is replacing the intake/exhaust manifold assy due to a exhaust leak from a small crack in the exhaust manifold.
Also, Jjgarci1 is modifying up a set of sliders that we will weld on. I must now protect those body panels!

Saddletramp accused me at the start of not being able to not keep "fixing" it up. He knows me all too well . It revealed itself to be in pretty good condition and too good a candidate not to restore back to its former glory.

JJG says he's ready this weekend to be able to start mounting the Sliders. They are the Trail Gear "weld to fit kit" sliders that I wanted some grid welded to the top for foot traction, anti-kids-foot-through-the opening, and to help deflect rocks an debris from the tires. They needed cleaned, painted, and sharp edges smoothed out.

Im thinking a slight angle upwards, measure it all up, and then Jj can weld and position the assembly.

Those were my two favorite mods on the 60 (besides the V8). Glad to pass the tips along!
