New brake lines ordered.
@77mustard40 dropped off the community transmission jack.

It's a beast.

I have cleared everything except the fuel tank from the transmission cover. So that's next. I am going to try and prop it up on some blocks to create a bit of clearance so I can move the cover without scratching it on the heater.

Excellent, cover off with the heater intact. You are on your way now…

Suspicions confirmed...everything else is dry. Cleaned it with degreaser, packed it with FPIG and hit it with a ball peen hammer. I reassembled the bellhousing, flywheel, and starter. Going to let it sit for the night and start it up in the morning. If it looks good I'll let it run for 30 minutes and make sure there are no more leaks.

I ache from being in this position for most of the day. But it's nice to be ready to run it and then stab the transmission. This jack is awesome and made it very easy to drop the transmission by myself. (Ball peen hammers in the foreground.)

Great work Matt!

Ran the truck for 20 minutes this morning and no leaks! Such a huge relief.

I have to say, the experience wasn't horrible. I enjoyed puting it all back together without any time constraints. I got everything reinstalled except the transmission before lunch. Took a break and then installed the transmission in under an hour! I have never had one go so smoothly. Once I got it onto the pins I made it slipped on to within a half inch of contact.

I installed the drive shafts with new bolts from $or and replaced the backup light switch before puting the transmission tunnnel cover back on.

Tomorrow and the next day I'll get the seats reinstalled and get back on the road.

Matt what FIPG did you use, just curious.

Took Sandy out for a quick trip to HD. (Wife is out of town and the 14 year old washer died, all troubleshooting is pointing to brain death...)

I need to spend a bit more time getting the carb and ignition dialed in, but it ran great. Plus, after running for 30ish minutes and sitting while I had lunch, I have a clean garage floor.

Are you sure it has oil?

What’s the fun of having a 40 without the remnants of a large cardboard box underneath it?

Dang…
Super glad you got her all fixed up.
That seemed like a serious test of ones mettle I would wager. You dove right in and done did it.
