For those of you who are waiting on a kit from the last few remaining, I will not be able to get the stuff back from the platers before Christmas. They are both backed up and neither is working next week. I'll try to get them out as quickly as possible right after the Christmas week. Sorry for the delay!

No problem...good job keeping everyone updated....

Just finished sorting the small order for the ones who already paid.

Both Cad and Zinc kits will be sent tomorrow.

The yellow zinc came out a little less yellow this time, it is only slightly yellow instead of the deep gold on some of the pieces. If anyone is counting on the cosmetics, let me know, and we can try to work something out. The player assured me the protection is there all the same.

The Cad is same as always.

Thanks for the patience everyone!

Dave,
did the plater explain why the parts did not have the deep gold color? I am ready for assembly and been waiting patiently for those little gold nuggets.

Here are the pics.

The M10 on the left is old stock, old color.

The three bolts next to it are from the plater in varying shades if gold.

The bolt on the bottom is silver zinc.

The plater said it depends on which batch the go in for how yellow they come out.

I'd be happy to take them down to have them re-plated, but I know some may just be happy with them as-is. I'll email everyone who purchased a yellow zinc kit to see what they want to do.

Hey Dave;

I just tried to order the yellow zinc full kit, and the website says "sold out" and won't let me.
I'd like to get one, and, get you paid...please let me know how to proceed?

thanks!

An email was just sent to everyone who has a deposit on file for a yellow zinc kit. Please let me know if you did not receive.

Please respond to the email directly with what you would like me to do.

Thanks

Do we have any additional comments on the mix of bolt sizes?

I have not received any specific feedback on the qtys of bolts in the kit, so I am just going to stick with what I have always sent. This will keep the prices down and I think most people have been satisfied with the mix.

I am considering increasing the washers, but I am still not sure about this, I would welcome any specific feedback of what sizes were lacking.

You saw these posts in my thread about these kits, yes?

double the m6.

I wish I could give you a better idea, but get more of the smaller bolts. Its definitely lacking on flat washers and lock washers. Start with his list and then see how it suites you. How far are you going with your build? I am literally replacing every nut and bolt. Ok almost every nut and bolt. I used a lot of the middle sized and small sized stuff. Things like the side cover, water pump, power steering pump, transfer case, etc. were all replaced, but this kit doesn't cover any of that. Ace hardware also carries a lot of zink plated metric stuff just not JIS. If your going to go to AAA metric anyways I would see if they could put together a whole kit for you. You might save some coin that way. You may have to go get it plated on your own. Not sure what they can get plated. I know a plater who will do your stuff for about 70 bucks. American Plating in Denver. One last thought, if AAA is a far drive for you for you call them first. They might ship.
Cheers,
Brian

Dave I got the email and appreciate all the time you have into this, but I would like to have them replated. I can wait another week to have them perfect. I emailed you back. Thanks-

I did.

I can't use one (or two) post as definitive feedback. And just saying double the M6s sounds a little arbitrary to me.

I have to weigh the cost of the kit carefully, and I am very hesitant to increase it. When I did the work to design the qtys of each size, I sat down with the spreadsheet developed by others on Mud, sorted by size, added all those up, and put together a kit based on that info.

The kit is not, and has never been adverstised, as every single bolt, nut, and washer on the 40. For some, it is too many, for some it is not enough, but what I have tried to do is create a kit that is for most, just right.

If anyone else has any feedback, please feel free to let me know, and I will continue to consider it all for the future kits.
