A few dirty finger prints on the end cap. The LED's are from the group buy...very easy to install

Yes, it has to be cut, the receiver is welded to the bumper and after they cut the x-member they drill 4 holes and bolt the bumper to the x-member.

Sub Enclosure and Rear Cargo Panel

You know what they say...measure twice, cut once...well this was more like measure 20 times cut 10 times, make three test panels...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...results....perfect!!

I installed the sub enclosure today and test fitted the cargo panel which required a 1/8 backing panel as reinforcement since I had to hack it up...it fit perfect.
I also had to make another cover panel as the second one was about an inch to long...it would not sit flush due to the curve in the cargo panel. I added a cooling vent for the amp that will be mounted to the left of the sub..
I also mocked up a mounting rig for the amp...Hopefully by week end I'll have the head unit in along with new speakers and rocking down the highway to the new sound system.

What would you say is the size of that hole? I just picked up my bumper yesterday and need to make that same cut.

Its a good 5 inch maybe more.. looking at the photo you can see the factory hole on the backside...which also gets cut....I can measure the backside tonight and get back to you.

That would be great. Is it just cutting or drilling too? Cam explained to to me and said I would need to also drill.

Ok, I was wrong..the cut that you see is max 4 inches...3 1/2 would be perfect... you can make the hole smaller..as long as the receiver will fit through the hole ..you need to leave enough metal to drill the holes and bolt the bumper on...the back side is about 9 inches so you can access the bolts...hope this makes sense.. I couldn't get a good picture because my spare is in the way...If you need a better picture I'll lower it tomorrow.

No that is perfect man. Just what I needed to know. I was just a little foggy on how it bolts on to the back.

Dynamat

Had the day off today and got started on the dynamat..pulled out the whole interior.. I plan on running all the wiring for the amp and speakers and then button it back together.

Whenever your ready...I may have some extra to get you started ....I have one box of Dynamat left and 100 Feet of Fat Mat..very similar...less expensive... I'm also doing the doors...We can talk about it.

Did I miss where you mounted the amp?

Did it go just ahead of your sub box in the rear quarterpanel, behind the interior panel?

Nice work, looks like you take your time planning the installs, it shows in the finished product!

No, you did not...I haven't mounted it yet. The plan is to mount it just ahead of the sub box behind the panel..still thinking and working out the details.

My Plan is to install the Pioneer Avic X7115BT Nav head unit..install the backup camera...... mount Infinity Reference 6030cs 6.5 component speakers in the front and rear doors which along with the Sub will run off the Alpine PDX-5 Amp
Install 4" Pioneer TS-D1002R, 2-way speakers in the dash and in the rear roof (factory location ...if i can get them to fit) and drive these with a small Pioneer GM-3400T Two Channel Amp mounted under the drivers seat.

That's the plan and the components are here...the problem is I know absolutely nothing about wiring this all up..
The head unit is getting installed by the shop that sold me the head unit,...... $500 included the head unit and installation, running the wiring for power and amps....that was a great deal..
I'll mount all the speakers and run wiring and a co-worker ...who use to install custom systems will do the wiring connections and tune the system.

Stay Tuned

Had a pretty full day working on the Cruiser... I started by lining all the inside of the doors with Rattle Trap Extreme it's a FatMat product thats every bit as good if not better than Dynamat and half the cost.. the aluminum backing is much better. I purchased 100Ft pack for $132.00 on Amazon..It's still listed for the same price if anyone is in need... and then brushed on a sound deadener from Second Skin...it was left over from my FJ55 project...
I also opened up the rear door speaker holes to mount the 6.5 speakers and made 4 MDF spacers for the speakers.
I was a bit surprise when i remove the door panels the PO had new Kenwood speakers installed... and the two doors on the passenger side were new used doors... they were Burgundy in color. The PO did inform me that the right side was backed into.
The bodyshop that did the repair source used doors off a 1993 and the idiots used the wiring harness from the 93 which explains why the front door light hasn't worked...there's no plug..I have a 1996 harness for that door and have to install it.
