Welcome to the forum. Love the frenchie. I would do some research before bulling the trigger on the arb bumper. I love my slee bumper. I have heard the arb really affects you angles in negative ways. If your heading up north again hit me up.

Here are some pics from my last adventure to the coast. These pictures were taken at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, OR. A sleepy little city that has a few different beach access points.

I wasn't looking for any drama, so we decided to stick to the wet packed sand and stayed away from the the deep dry stuff since I wasn't in the mood to air down my tires. I guess thats why I need an air compressor on the rig...? :)

Stupid stock subwoofer! This will be replaced with something custom as soon as I can figure out a plan. I want to build a box into the stock location. More on this to come.

Figuring out how to mount the scan gauge connector.

It fits pretty well considering its still in the stock location. The cover needed a little tape to stay shut but so far so good!

Here is the back up camera. Its super tiny and looks OEM, which was a requirement for me. I hate seeing the bulky license plate mounted cameras.

The sound is much better than stock but the lack of bass is kinda a problem for me. Like I mentioned, I'll figure out something for a new subwoofer down the road.

have you figured out what your going to do about the sub woofer yet ? I have a 97 lx450 and mine is in the console and I'm having trouble finding something that will fit . Do you know what size the one you have in there is or what sizes will fit or replace it I might move mine back to that location .

Sure thing.

The back up camera is the Esky EC170-06. It has outstanding reviews and for only $20 I don't think you can go wrong.

The bulbs I got from candle power. They have 3 versions of the 9012 bulb to choose from.

Congrats on the new rig. I just bought that same camera for the front of my rig. My radio has both a backup input and a front input. A group of us in the area are heading out for snow wheeling Jan 14th if you want to join us.

Finally got a pair of OEM front mud flaps. It looks so much cleaner than the plastic running board caps...obviously! :) Install was extremely easy. Took about 2 min per side. 3 bolts 10mm bolts and done.

Hi guys,

I need some help installing an RS3000 keyless entry unit. I have the wiring harness and have explored under the dash according to the direction manual that I downloaded from the Slee website. My issue is that I don't understand how and where the main plug is connected. The manual refers to a "courtesy plug"... is that something additional that I need?

My goal is just to have keyless entry - I know most people will suggest going aftermarket but that isn't how I wanted to do this. Any help would be really appreciated!

Here are two pictures. The plug on the wiring harness is male but so is the open plug under the steering wheel.

Here is the main chunk of wiring the manual refers to. No clue what to do here since none of the connectors are the same size to connect.

Here is what I'm working with.

Im betting youve searched but here are some hits...... ok disregard. I see youve posted in most of them.

So ill add this instead esp for PNW owner......see your jack holder pic in back driver side panel? The rust is likely from a leak at the window belt molding dripping on jack. Below the sliding windows is a trim piece held in with 4-5 clips. If you pop them out and add a dab of sealant/rtv to the holes and replace it may fix up that leak. Sometimes you can look for water streaks in inside of quarter panel to verify. If you look up from inside there you should be able to see clips im referencing.

Thank you for the advice. I'll check it out and report back!

Congrats Nick. Looks clean - good pick up. I went with the same tires & size except all black. The white letters out look good on the black truck.
I went with the same head unit and speaker upgrade. For a replacement sub, I went this route:
Another powered subwoofer option in stock location
It's good enough. I think before I make any further audio upgrades, I'll do sound deadening.

I'm in PDX too.

Drove to Southern Oregon this week to visit some family. Found a nice place to take a picture!

I loved and hated having a scan gauge - I was watching the temps / MPG the whole trip, which is roughly 4 hours! :P Coolant temps never went higher than 180-184* even going through the mountain passes. We managed to get 13.5 MPG @ 68mph... ehh.

Nice truck, buddy! The PO of my 94 took the head unit with him, so I've been without one altogether since I bought it. I just keep a little Radio Shack battery powered AM/FM radio in on the passenger seat, but I do plan to get a new head unit and speakers at some point. I'm just focusing on mechanical stuff first. Anyhow, I picked up a sub bracket from Whole Hog and while I haven't installed it yet, it appears to be a pretty nice solution.

This weeks update: Spark plugs

The truck started to have a massive misfire this weekend. I grabbed a new set of plugs and that cleared up my issue about 97%. There is still a very light mis at idle while in Drive. I hate knowing something is off. I'm going to order new wires, cap and rotor to see if that clears up my issue. I'm hoping it will but I think they should be replaced anyway.

The 6th spark plug was a huge pain to get out since the rubber plunger got stuck on the old plug! Ugggh that was horrible.

The next thing you need to do is replace all the heater hose's on your heater control valve, because those hose's are original from 1997 (you can tell from the factory cotter pin type hose clamp), and with that many miles, you should replace the control valve too. Since those heater hoses have never been replaced, I'm willing to bet that your PHH is original too, and your PHH is one hose that you'll be happy you replaced it, in your driveway, not out on the trail.

As this mud member pointed out, to check your weather stripping on the drivers side for leaks, you need to check the other side too. I can see in your photos staining on the passenger side speaker, so that sides weather stripping is leaking too. One other place to check for leaks is around the gas filler neck gasket, between the filler neck and the trucks body. With the inside plastic panel removed, have someone spray the outside with water while you watch from inside. If it is leaking, make sure that your fender drain at the bottom of your quarter panel is open, so it'll drain all that water out.

One of the old plungers got stuck around the plug. This was such a pain in the ass... ugh. Had to use a coat hanger to fish it out, probably 35 minutes worth of fighting.

New soft intake boot on and running like a champ again! Such a nice feeling have all of that out of the way. :)

Coming up next is new U Joints.
