I am all registered and insured. Will get a few more items cleaned up tomorrow and go for a cruise.

Only recent visual progress is I installed the blower duct. It's one more part on the truck and off the work bench.

I installed a new alternator, voltage regulator, checked my wiring and still no charging. I am at a loss with this one.
:hmmmm:
Probably something small and obvious....

In the meantime, I smashed this tire carrier back into shape using the 20 ton press. Then gave it a paint job.

What year is that carrier? Can you post a pic of the backside? I’m curious if those structural beads replaced the angle iron on the backside of earlier ones (?). The angle iron on the FJ40 carrier I have (unknown year) interferes with the tailgate latches on my ‘63 FJ45 SWB. I know the original 45 SWB carrier has a flipped angle iron so it doesn‘t interfere, but that means there’s at least a couple different versions depending on tailgate (FST drop down or barn door) - and yes I’m guessing here. Yours adds another design but maybe it consolidates the different designs into one regardless of tailgate. Still guessing 😂. (I’m referring to the earlier solid carriers, not the later tube ones).

And the stand-off mount is gray or silver (hammered? if I read the paint can correctly), not body color?

I can post a pic of the backside of the carrier tonite. It's a 1974 model. It's different from the early ones. Also, that secondary part is silver / pewter from the factory. It had original paint and it matches the 1976 carrier with the same factory color.

@JackA So what is going to be done with Emerald when you are done with her? Sorry I name vehicles

And then they were gray. I consulted the 74 sales brochure to make sure. I will get the tires mounted and balanced tomorrow.

What did you use to spray the wheels? Special mix put into spray can? Spray out of HVLP? What is the source for the paint? Looking to re-spray some factory wheels myself here soon.

Really enjoy this thread. You are so productive and just keep plugging along, almost like you've done this a hundred times before!

The wheels are painted with Rustoleum machine gray out of a spray can.......nothing fancy.

As far as my productivity goes.......yes, I am pretty quick cause I have done all this before. I have restored, revived, or rebuilt about 6 Cruiser over the last 15 years or so. I think I can do some of this stuff in my sleep......lol.

Wow Jack you are amazing! I love that you bring these old cruisers back and put them on the road. Well done!

Gracias on the carrier pic Jack. That’s quite a bit different structurally than the early ones. The X pattern in the rubber pad on the bottom I have etched in the bottom of my tailgate 😂, which now tells me it’s from a ‘74 or later I guess?
