And then they were gray. I consulted the 74 sales brochure to make sure. I will get the tires mounted and balanced tomorrow.

67-68 was the switch from black to gray. My 68 was made in 9/67. Had four Grey rims and one black rim when I bought it in 1974. Years later when I knew more about the 40 series I wondered if the black rim wasn't the spare that was still in a pile being used up from the 667s.

Funny you say that......as I am on vacation today thru Labor Day. Top priority is getting this truck running, driving, and legal.

Got half the front torn down. Good thing I stocked up on shop towels.

Other side is apart now too. Taking a break and going wheeling tomorrow. After all this rain last week, I wanna see all the green in the mountains.

I take it you took the LX to the mountains? Greenest it's been up here in years. Started to hear some bugling in the early morning. Great time to be in Northern Arizona.

I'm big doing things for myself but front knuckles I might make an exception. Mess is the reason why.
Better to do it yourself in the garage so you can do it in the field if need be

20 years ago when I rock crawled my 85 4Runner on 38's, I could change a birf in 45 minutes. Easy peasy.
