Hi All !... I eMailed Rob (CorvetteFan) to borrow his template, but he sent it to somebody and he does not remember who it was

Whoever has it, can you please send it back, or PM me for my address so you can ship it to me ?

it is a great mod, but I am afraid to cut into my hood, and having the template give me a boost of confidence

Thanks !

OK... I finally "remembered" that it is Forum member "Flank" that I send the template to...

I e-mailed Flank's contact info to you... I hope he still has it!

Rob

Uh oh... you fished me out. I got the template last fall - right about the time I had a baby and the temps dropped here in Vegas, so the project got put on hold. Soooo, my plan is to get this done hopefully in the next couple of weeks so that I can pass it on.

very nice!!!

OK, Josh... get on with it! You have had the template since the first part of August (nine months... you could have had another baby, it's been so long!).

There are at least two other "Mudders" who want to do this project and want to use the templates... how 'bout you using it and passing it on... or, just pass it along now?

"Hopefully?" Hope has nothing to do with it! Get to cutting!

I'm one of the two.... I have my vents on order.

I know, I know... But when was the last time you had three kids under 5 years old and a wife that travels internationally for business? I'll be getting on it.

Please forgive me, Josh, if I seemed unsympathetic... although now retired some ten years, I well remember the 24/7 pressure cooker of 'Fortune 200' corporate life... as a Director of Operations, and with responsibility for five manufacturing plants (in three countries), I am well acquainted with the concept and the practice of "busy!" After ten years, I'm still 'using up' frequent flyer miles with over a half-million still in my account. Do I understand busy? You betcha buddy, I was the poster boy for busy!

I'll be getting on it.

You will be making a couple of guys really happy!

Josh, I'm afraid that you mis-read my post. I began with "Please forgive me, Josh, if I seemed unsympathetic," and proceeded with what I thought was a brief narrative expressing how I fully understand being up-to-your-eyeballs busy. I thought that my post was one of 'understanding,' rather than condeming!

Yep, that's me (!)... Sad isn't it? But, you know, somehow I managed to get my cutie-pie wife to marry me fifty-years-ago-next-month. By the way, the photo below was taken on her 69th birthday (she's 70 now and still my dream girl)

Whew! Thanks a million!!

Thanks guys...

In the interest of full disclosure and in fairness to Flank, I want to point out that the template and related poster-board pattern(s) are the property of Flank... the stuff belongs to him, he 'bought' it from me for the princely sum of twenty-five bucks or so (mostly covering the cost of materials)... I don't recall if there were any 'shipping' costs added to that or not.

The template being Flank's wholly-owned property, he can do with it whatever he chooses... if he 'passed it on,' he deserves to recoup his modest 'investment'... the three that are now wishing to be 'in line' to use the template would probably be more than happy to pay Flank for the use... of course, getting their 'investment' back when passed on to the next Mudder.

I wish now that I had made a couple of 'copies' of the template and pattern... it never occured to me that others might want to use it.

Anyway, I have no dog in this fight, so I'm out of it... but if the template gets passed around, I'll be happy to answer installation questions to the best of my ability.

Finally Done

Got the vents installed this weekend. Neither of the two compressors I used had the power to run the same saw that Rob used, so I ended up using a jigsaw with a good metal blade. Worked well, but a little cumbersome - be sure to over-tape your area to allow for the big butt end on the saw to move around and not scratch your paint if you use a jig saw.

I have PM'd hzavarce about getting the templates next, if he still wants them. If not, will go to next in line.

Forgot to add, did some light wheeling today, after installation last night. Generally on the slow work and doing 70 up hill on the freeway recently, I've been claiming 140ish degree under Air Intake temps according to my Scanguage II. Today, Air intake temps were about 110-112 degrees, so i will call this a success. After getting home and parking, put my hand over the hood, then over the vent, significantly hotter over the vent, could feel the hot air rising out. Plus, I love the look from the driver's seat, very cool!

Thanks again, Rob.

Well, that's just about enough to convince me! How do I get in line for the templates?? John

I would also like to get in line for the templates. Been wanting to do this for a while

Put me in line as well. Ordering the vents in the morning. My wife just got back from Vegas and said the truck ran into the 200s topping at 217. Only when it was downhill did it go under 200.

If someone can send me the template I can make vector of it then anyone can print it. Unless that is part of the allure... sharing a single template.

The template that made its way across america, one hood at a time.
