Mine is nearly as short as I can make it but works. I initially thought I may have to shorten it until I measured it to spec. GL

I'm going to stare at it and fiddle with it some more tomorrow...If I don;t figure it out, I'll post some pictures. I have the pitman arm that came off of it originally....but I don;t see how the pitman arm would make a 4" difference in the length of the drag link...it might affect the drag link hitting something by arching in too far or not far enough..no problems in that regard.

DONE!!. Holy $h!t what a project. Just as an FYI this is a whole different ballgame with all the smog equipment in place. Still doable but the pump and pulley that Romer used will not work with a stock manifold (ask me how i know 
). Long story short, projects is done, PS is awesome and Georg (@orangefj45) was really helpful and his brackets, pump and pulley are great.
One issue I'm having is that the center position on my steering wheel changes. If i turn left at a stop sign and then turn back to straight, the steering wheel is straight. but if i turn right at a stop sign when i turn back to straight the steering wheel is about 45 degrees to the right. Has anyone ever encountered that or have any ideas on what might be causing it?

'Play' in the box, is my vote. You can gently/delicately adjust some of the play out of the box, using the nut and screw on the side of the box, but if the steering wheel sticks when you go around a corner, it's too tight. I have adjusted a number of boxes, and it can make a big difference. Do NOT adjust the box too tightly - best to have a tiny bit of on-center slack, than to have it be stiff. The box screw might only need 1/16 of a turn, so don't go hog-wild, here.
To determine if you need to, have someone slowly oscillate the wheel back and forth while you watch the input shaft and the pitman arm, and see if there is slack in the box.

The problem is that i didnt touch any of the linkages. i disconnected the pitman arm and it obviously has the power steering gear (which is an old used unit) but i didnt touch anything else. the other part of the mystery is that there is no slop in the steering wheel. tiny movements in the steering wheel can be seen at the tire. I have no idea whats going on.
Anybody know of any new updates for acquiring the correct pulley and bushing? It appears Grainger still offers the v-belt pulley but discontinued the bushing.

I was going to change my small v-belt saginaw pump pulley to a larger v-belt and found pulleys and bushings here at mcmaster-carr mcmaster.com/#v-belt-pulleys/=137myk1. Unfortunately when I installed the small v belt pulley I did not use a press but did use a hammer.... so the pump has made weird bearing noises now for about 10 years, just waiting for it to crap out. But you know the small v belt properly tightened has lasted quite a while too. (the above address also has info on 3/4" non-keyed bushings).

The Grainger bushing is discontinued, but it looks like PN# 6086K19 at McMaster-Carr has the same dimensions (making sure you select the 3/4" bore diameter option).

Belt Here: McMaster-Carr (make sure you select 48" for the OC) (it's really expensive though at $77.28) Gah

That's the part number I was looking at 6209k207. The question for me is whether or not the cruiser belt is a "A" or "B" belt
and I don't have the top width and depth in front of me. The pulley gives a width of .875" and a depth of .58". Oh, I guess reading it again that you can use a "A" or "B" belt but the pulley diameter changes from "A" 4.2" to "B"4.6" so if you are looking for a five inch pulley maybe pn 6209k209 is the one. Have I confused you yet?
