My Lseat.com front seat leather experience

I just bought 2 seats of front leather from Lseat with a CC. One for my 80 and the other for my wife’s LX. No issues, showed up in about 3-4 weeks. The front seats come with side arm rests and center console arm rest as well.

As far as installation, it really isn’t that hard. Takes a while on the first one to figure out how to get all the plastic covers off and to unplug all the wiring harnesses underneath. After you remove the stock leather, you get the hang of it and putting on the new leather isn’t bad. Just go buy new hog rings and a set of hog ring pliers is a MUST.

@NC LX - how much did LSeat upcharge you for the perforated leather? It looked great. Also, and I apologize if you already mentioned it in the thread, but did you just go for the fronts or did you do the fronts and rears? And ultimately, if the former, how did the new covers match up with the second row?

Did anyone rebuild the seat before recovering? I.E. fix the sag/hole? I just had my front seat "restuffed" by a touted interior shop but i can hardly tell the difference. Still feels like I'm sitting in a hole.

I think it was about a $70 upcharge for each row. I had the 1&2nd rows done.

I just ordered from L seat and didn't know the fronts came with the center console cover as well. Not expecting it but if its in the shipment I would be super happy.

The LSeat kit DOES NOT come with a center console cover. Their website does not say it does, and the kit that I am installing right now did not come with one. I ordered additional bulk leather from them (quite reasonably priced, BTW) so I could get a center console cover made.

I just received my order last week and I was surprised to see that it had the center console cover included with it. It's in the bottom right of the pic.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm ready to buy from Lseat, but my foam has been coming off in pieces. The back of the driver seat has canyons in it, and the bolster is ~30% gone. Should I just pay a shop, or is there a DIY option others use?

Buy a new seat bottom from Toyota

This company also sells factory & their own leather for the seats, roughly double the price of Lseat... but has anyone here bought leather seats from CruiserParts? I’m curious if the quality is much better. Also the customer service...

A main concern of mine is the ruche (the ruffled center portion) in the leather on the factory seats. 1. I’m not doing my second and third rows, so I want it to match, and 2. the ruche is functional and I like the function—its very comfortable! It looks like these Lseats don’t have it, and I don’t love the stretched, tight look I’m seeing on the completed seats. I get that I’m nitpicking for the price. But I’m also not trying to risk hundreds of dollars on their customer service for pig skin seats that may or may not be anywhere near as soft, comfortable & tough/durable as the OEM stuff. I like to stand on my seats through the sunroof (or climb up through it onto the roof) while enjoying off-road locations or trackside at car races.

Bottom line, I want some great leather I can care for and make last 20 years. So anyone bought from CrusierParts?

Just finished both seats. Went 5/10 smoothly.

Anyways, after removing the console lid cover I realized that the piece they sent me for this is about 6" too wide. It is about the right length though. If I put it on as is, the sticking will be in a funny spot.

Anyone else have this issue or did they send me the wrong console piece?

I had same issue. I believe they made the cover they are sending for the non-US Cruisers that come with the center fridge and no armrests. Those come with a different, wider console lid.

I ordered bulk material from Lseat, about $18 worth. Took it to my local upholstery shop and they made a perfect cover for $90. Someone else on Facebook took the oversize cover to the upholstery shop and they took it apart and re-did it to fit.

Lseat offered to make a new pattern if I sent my console lid to them, but I did not think that would have been a very smart idea on my part. Maybe it would have been OK, but was not willing to risk it.

Do not send them anything! They made the same offer and I sent them my console cover and my shifter to be covered. My email was written on everything and I confirmed they received it. After a couple of weeks they claimed they didn’t have it and then just stopped answering emails.

Oh and I had already been charged. Discover ended up reverseing the charge.

Well good advice on both ends! Now I wish I had left my old leather on there. It wasn't ripped. I was replacing it just for the sake of matching.

Guess I chose wisely. Wouldn't send my center console to Land Cruiser Heaven for the same reason.

I think Lseat runs into issues when they are asked to do anything besides put an existing bagged cover set in a box and mailing it. People who have been OK with that get their covers, and that is it. They seem, from reports, to run into problems with custom orders or work that isn't just putting a bag of covers in a box and shipping them.

Having dealt with upholstery shops in the past as part of my job, this all sounds about right for the upholstery industry. Not that it's ok...but they seem to all be like that.

Not sure why everyone wants to deal with a shady company like LSSeats vs. just going to your local upholstery shop. I had my tint guy tell me about a local upholstery shop that I was not familiar with. Went there today and they can two my first two rows for $1200. That is real leather that matches the factory pattern. My leather is not terrible, but it will need to be replaced t some point. I will go this route when it is time.

Ask around local car dealers in your area and see who they recommend for upholstery. Then go get a quote.
