Ive been extremely busy with work and family, but getting back to it slowly.

Got my fuel tank back from radiator shop yesterday. They lined it with some **** that hardens and keep rust from entering fuel lines, etc.

Also purchased some straight brake lines from NAPA already fitted with 10 mm fittings. Really nice stuff. They are straight and come in several different lengths from 10" to 60" and are coated with some sort of teflon like coating.

Trying to get as much done on the chassis before I set tub on the frame.

I want to strap fuel tank under the tub as it was a ***** getting it off and have read threads were others have had trouble with this before too.

Anyway getting a little closer everyday. Stay tuned...

Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of your cruiser build.:grinpimp:

Not a bad idea at all. But, if you do that, make sure you have 4 guys to put the tub back on. Having to lift the tub with the gas tank hanging under it over the frame was a tough job for three of us. 4 and it would have been a snap.

Ran new brake lines on front and rear axle, and along frame rail. Now working on all fuel tank including lines.

Downloaded a buttload of pictures from mud and sor.com so I can run my new fuel lines correctly.

Found an aftermarket fuel sending unit at SOR.com for $40, oem is $85. Anyone have any experience with the aftermarket unit?

Cant see any reason to spend twice as much for oem fuel sending unit if the aftermarket one gets a good rep.

I can tell you the OEM one will work and is good quality.. Any time I didnt put oem in my truck I ended up doing so later, unless it was not an option. spend the money now and be done with if for 30 plus years.

I hear ya! I guess after this far why skimp on $40!

Got the 2F back on the frame after mmm several years!

Next, working on getting bellhousing, clutch, tranny and transfercase back together.

Also completed new brake lines earlier last week. Can't believe I contemplated buying the pre-bent lines after realizing how easy it was to bend my own.

Nice! That's a big step!

I've heard of doing that with grease- but that has got to be the coolest way to remove a pilot bearing! And damn easy to remember too!

Looking great- I'm olive with envy!

Fuel Tank Straps

My factory straps had a rubber sleeve that were destroyed, so I am trying to find a suitable replacement.

Also, the felt that lines the tank was worn out. Is there a certain type of felt that should be used ??? F3 ???

Found this website: thefeltstore.com

SAE F-3 Felt is minimum 85% gray wool and has a density of 0.32-0.36 g/cm3. This grade of felt is suitable for vibration absorption, resistance to abrasion and wear. F3 felts offer the same uses as F1 felts, but are best for applications where felt of coarse wool is acceptable. Available in a variety of thickness and length. * Natural wool is used, slight color variation may occur*

Hey Alex, I think I have an extra set of those tank strap rubber sleeves.

Awesome! sent you an email, let me know what you want for them...

Also, I recently bought a CCOT HFS bumper. The bumper came wrapped in some insulation with foil backing like they sell to go under floor mats (see attached pic).

Will this stuff work to replace my discarded wool pads?

Ughhh, finally got bellhousing, clutch and tranny/transfer attached.

Did it by myself with help of cherry picker and a tranny jack. It was a bitch!

Can't imagine how this done with tub on the frame! Glad that is done!!!

Splangy, got my rubber fuel tank straps. Soaked them in a bucket of water mixed with Clean Green. Turns out the edges were not cracked just coated with 3mm of nasty undercoating that is peeling off. Overall their condition is about a 7 out of 10.

Works for me! Thanks!

LOL. I told you they weren't cracked! They were just CAKED (not cracked) with undercoating and mud.
