There shouldn’t be one in the kit, but you should re-use the one that came off. I’m assuming the thick flat keyed-washer that sits between the outer bearing and inner spindle nut. I’ve had kits from Kurt, Georg, SOR & Mr T … none came with these.

@tucker74 I would have reused one had one existed on my 78’ 55 when I took it apart. I just put it back together without one, like I found it. Fingers crossed that the 78’ 55 did not come with the thrust washer.. might have to defer to @OGBeno for the ultimate word as to whether or not these rigs originally had the washer.

@Lifelong40Fan @scrapdaddy thanks for the replies!

All of these have thrust washers. Every single one of them.

That said, every single front axle rebuild kit from any vendor does not have a thrust washer or the lock nuts in them. Since most of these kits are a la carte, you have to know whether you need one or not.

Ok next up…..anyone have any idea if the center arm Should be bent like this or do I need to start looking for a new one?

@tucker74 you are correct getting that thrust washer in there won’t be horrible. Ordering it up this morning. I did figure out the lockouts. Just like Rush said put it on the bench and it’ll make sense. The actuated really smoothly so I’m not diving all the way in.

Another center arm related question. The part of the center arm that bolts up to the frame (the part you can rebuild) is held on by 4 bolts. The 2 that go into the driver side of the frame threaded into captive nuts on the inside of the frame. The 2 bolts that hold it on (at least on Marge) on the front frame were held in by loose nuts on the inside of the frame.

A. Has my frame been altered or are the loose nuts and bolts holding the center arm body onto the front of the rig OEM? They were a gigantic PIA to get out. Seems like captive nuts on the front would make it waaaayyy easier.
B. Does anyone have a part number for the bolts nuts if in fact they are OEM. Mine were extremely boogered up when I finally got them off and I’d like to replace them.

@RUSH55 i think that’s exactly what happened. I’m kicking my self for using the air gun on those bolts I shoulda just put a breaker bar on it. It was towards the end of the wrenching day and I wanted the center arm assembly off so I could clean it up

Anyone see any issue with me ordering those bolts new from yota (I like to stick with JIS stuff) and put a lock washer, washer and nut with locktight on it and snug it down?

I don’t see any issue with that. Go with Toyota if that’s your preference. Bel-Metric carries JIS in a normal hex head or flange head as well

Can someone help with ID of protrusions under passenger side of frame?

I believe the arrow in the left is pointing to the hole where one would put one end of a steering stabilizer.

What is the circle on the right the arrow is pointing to? Maybe a recovery point?

Something mine doesn't have anymore, but I'm guessing the right has to do with your center steering box. Nothing to do with a pto as I have that, so I'm not real sure.

Couldn’t find any reference to the circle thing in any of these. Maybe I need a FSM specific to a 78’ 55? @PabloCruise can you post up a picture of the FSM you used on your build?
