Thanks, I’m just north of Ellington airport in North Clear Lake. It was $625 out the door for all five wheels.VERY nice! Where do you live? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost per wheel to have them powder coated? I only asked because I checked with a local powder coat shop and they charge $150 per wheel, and I'm curious if that's a good deal or if it's priced higher than other places?
Thanks!
You mentioned "mild lift". IYHO, what is the best / most cost effective way to do a mild lift? Longer shackles, spring spacers, shocks, or something else?31¨ is tight for stock height but is doable
33¨ is good for mild lift
the wider the tire the more rubbing youĺl get when stuffing
the pizza cutter tires work best on the 5.5¨ wide stock rims.... no more than 10.5¨
IMHO
Question: Good points... and I appreciate all the info, I really do, since I am trying to learn and prepare. Since my rig is 53 years old, it would make sense that the leaf springs will probably be sagging at least a little. So my question is, for all those reading out there, is it better to replace them, or keep your rig more original and deal with the saggy springs? "IF" it is better to replace them, do you have any recommendation for best / most economical source, AND did you replace yours with another set of leaf springs, OR (like some hot rodders do) replace them with a single mono spring built to hold the same weight as the original? Also, best source for shackles?yes the width is the killer... 7.50 16ś are only like 8.5¨ wide
i took his question as the largest tire.... 31x10.5 on stock... most stock trucks are running on 50 year old saggy springs
ive rode on 33ś on stock.... but... they rub so much
Exactly which model Kenda tire are you running? I only ask because I really like that aggressive sidewall. Also, where did you get the Dobson 1 inch lift springs?I am running the kenda kevlar 33x9.50 with the 1inch Dobinson leaf springs with stock hangers. Its just about perfect for me. However I would prefer some old school 750 16s Like the super traxion tires.

Back in my day...I had my leafsprings re-arched at a local blacksmith/spring shop. They even added another leaf for me.is it better to replace them, or keep your rig more original and deal with the saggy springs? Sweet! I didn't even know they still had blacksmith shops.Back in my day...I had my leafsprings re-arched at a local blacksmith/spring shop. They even added another leaf for me.
I like those tires, they look ruff & tuff! What brand and size are they?
My FJ40 FINALLY arrived! And, judging by the pics, people in the forums tell me it definitely has a lift kit, but I don't know how high. I do know there is a sticker on the rear glass from CCOT that says "HFS (Hell for Stout) Suspensions". I'll attach a couple of pics to this, and although I know it's difficult to say without seeing it in person, but how big of a tire do you guys think I could stuff on these original 15 inch wheels? Also, I grabbed a tape measure and the current tires are about 30 inches tall, with LOTS of room. See pics, and let me know:

Hmmm... date code... I'll take a look and see if I see something that looks like a date.
Date codes on tires is by year and week not month. Two digits for each.Hmmm... date code... I'll take a look and see if I see something that looks like a date.
