Sweet music

That's awesome and such a sweet, sweet sound. I've been watching for a while and can't wait to see it in person. I live in San Antonio, so hopefully I can catch you at a meet up or something.

Wow! Very cool. Nice work. I am interested to see what EMS has to offer for a kit. That's cool ppl are starting to turbo the gaser 80's. Prob even get better MPG once its tuned up.

Completed engine bay

Looks fantastic! If you need a driver for the GTR when you line the LX up next to it let me know ;)

it's twice as heavy and makes less than 1/2 the power. Lol

when you put like this it's sounds awful .. you must add Land Cruiser and Go Everywhere and then we have a fair comparison ..

Oh haha, I just said engine bay was done. I still have lots of other ideas! :)

You should know better than to use that dirty word anywhere describing a project.

It's opening the door for the "For Sale" sign virus.

Yeah with pigs it's best to just keep looking and find one without rust than to play the catch up game. I am not trying to rub it in but I think my old pig was one of the most rust free pigs in the country. Except for a dime sized hole on the rear driver's side everything else had been taken down to bare metal and treated or painted. Hell the front fenders I laid down POR15 over top of rust bullet. Lol. You should just call Bill Penny Toyota and see if they will sell it to you since they stopped returning my emails. Haha.

So we are currently at an est crank 375hp and 553ft/lbs! And that is all before 3500rpms. Going to work very nicely I think! even a new 200 series is only 380hp@5600rpms and 401ft/lbs@3600rpms.

but, we are running into some issues tuning with the stock computer fighting for control. There is still a lot of room to increase power, the turbo is running great, and there is still a lot of fuel available since we are only seeing 60% injector duty cycles at 12psi, but when it goes into open loop it is way too rich. Everyone has some very good ideas on how to get around the open loop problems so shouldn't be an issue after a little more tuning time.

That's crazy and cool. Can't wait to see it burning up the roads in SA!,,

Look forward to seeing what you end up doing. I think it would be pretty cool to take some of your tuning ideas (IE: injectors, MAF housing) and see if it can be applied to the supercharger. Squeeze a little more out of these things and be able to run a smaller pulley.

Yeah the biggest problem with the supercharger is going to be that the compressor map doesn't really support much more power, and even doing pulley swaps you are generating a lot more heat in the compressed air. I couldn't find a compressor map for the TRD supercharger but it is basically an M90. Most guys running the M90 with the 2.6" pulley on the 3.8L engines report they can't sustain 12psi of boost as the roots style blower at that size just falls way out of it's design limits so they see 12psi at lower rpms but at high rpms the boost tapers off, not sure how soon that would happen on the 4.5L 1FZFE.

I think with the supercharger the biggest difference would be getting it intercooled and managing fueling better, with the intercooler and fueling handled than go to a smaller pulley for a little extra boost.

Yep, est crank 375hp/553ftlbs at 12psi. Once we get the open loop sorted I will go to 15psi
