Time to clean my undercarriage—fluidfilm prep. Anyone know of a DIY car wash anywhere near McLean? I can’t find one for the life of me..

Not real close, but there's one in Leesburg next to TW Perry.

There's one in Sterling off 50 Rte28. Probably OK to use during daylight.

Thanks! That's probably closest to me--any more details? Every little icon I poke on in google maps is not a DIY . . .

It's attached to a gas station across from Sterling Arsenal. Might only have a couple of bays.

I would bring a second set of eyes. You can never be too safe.

EDIT: Don't know why I said Rte50... meant Rte 28

Thanks! Will keep my eyes peeled.

Anyone have a guy they trust and use for house work? Our guy is going back to his country to visit family for the holidays

Need to redo the master bathroom.

Let me know who you find and how it goes, please.
If you don't need it too use the guy we normally use for everything is great and can get you his info when he gets back..
I just need someone soon, since we're having a leaking issue that's causing the ceiling in the living room to get wet

All my guys book out 4-6 weeks. I tend to think if you find a guy who can get right to work how good can he really be.

Just get a electric pressure washer from walmart. Car washes are typically 1000-1200 PSI at about 2-2.2 GPM. Wash it down spray a light degreaser on it and let it sit for about 10 mins if the temp is above 50 degrees and then wash it off with the hottest water you can get from your house and you should be OK.
If you need a legit hot water washdown with a degreaser application I know a guy.

Holy cow, what a brilliant idea . . . it'll save me an hour driving and probably $15 for the dulles toll road . . . Thanks!

Walmart has the SunJoe 2000 PSI one for half off now, for anyone else in the market . . . nope, I moved too slow--it was out of stock by the time I checked out. Arrrgh.

Not that worried about degreasing--I'm just going to spray oil all over everything anyway! Just want to get all/most of the crud off to ensure the fluid film gets as close as possible to previous coats. . .

I have about 3-5 good ideas a year and it’s November so I guess I was due for one.

I know a guy who rents houses all over Fauquier county who has a bunch of painter guys who Are always getting locked up for DWI#2,3,4,5 ect.....
He waits till they get hemmed up and then calls them in jail to see if they want to paint his houses for nothing so they can get out of jail for work release.

I think that's what they call a symbiotic relationship.

Any recommendation on a dealership to buy hood insulation for a LX450? Thanks

That one looks like it still has a good 20k miles left in it.

For buying local, I use Koons Arlington Toyota, because it's close. Their parts guys are good, but I'm paying full retail when I go to them. Try Camelbak or McGeorge Toyota. Or look up the part using your VIN on Partsouq and see what shipping will set you back--95% of the time items from Partsouq shipped cost less than same item from anywhere in the U.S.

Not for hood liners--they're bulky--check out Camelbak or McGeorge and use their prices to talk your closest dealer down.

I can fix leaks and do plumbing, but I don't do drywall... I have the tools for drywall/paint and you are welcome to give it a go.

been there done that. Just finished patching a shower drain leak. Now patching the toilet seal leak. I was going to hire a handy man to patch them because I hate sanding drywall. But now I have to replace the roof.
“F”ing money pit!

I just want to know who did the Reno work in this house. So I don’t hire them. And can warn others.
