Define fair local pricing of diesel fuel.

When the price of oil pumped in Canada is less in the USA than in Canada that is unfair. We can talk adnauseum about the social services and all that which we have in Canada but when I go to the gas station I'm buying fuel, not visiting the doctor or anything else. If I'm buying fuel then keep the cost fuel related and use the taxes for roads NOT the general slush fund. To do otherwise is unfair.

83Bj60, and others..... It's a good rant. But honestly a little off the Q. MP and Mpp's etc are regular folk from your communities. Not Ivory tower folk. If you want change I suggest you start there. Don't like what your response is by them...try to run for a spot in the MP. Cite your rant to all the populations and maybe you will get elected. Or volunteer in a party.

Taxes will always be high if we want to give money to every fn charity and social program out there. Fxxx we even sent a C-17 to aid in New Orleans...why? Cat 2 storm and the USA is wealthy enough with planes. Why did we need to help....cause thats what canada does.

This thread should be about fuel prices. so we should keep it about that sorta :) otherwise it might be better in chat.

Well it's 138.9 now where I live, and I'm going to refrain from making further comments, you are right brownbear, but you got to admit the situation is really upsetting and definitely worth ranting about. As for myself, forget about reporting issues to your MP. They are all nice and polite about it but quickly forget it when time comes for action. A grassroots revolt is what's needed, and that starts with civil disobedience such as driving at the lowest speed possible and refusing to pay fines when caught fueling with WVO, and to keep talking about the issue.

Its amazing that there is no lag time between crude oil going up and diesel shooting up to match but plenty of lag time between crude prices dropping and diesel prices dropping to match. No get this, I filled with B40 yesterday at the Husky independent which sell Cascadia Biodiesel in Delta at 139.9. Bio is not supposed to have any provincial tax on it to encourage use. So this should have 40% less provincial tax. In the past, this has made it about $0.8 to $.12 a liter cheaper than dino. All the other stations were selling dino for about $133.9. I wonder if Cascadia Biofuels is getting greedy now they have a customer base?

Zambia prices...$2.50/L

Diesel here is insane. Someone told me yesterday that our diesel was the highest in Africa...it's also known to be some of the worst quality...

Want proof...here is a picture below. It was taken when USD was 3200Kwacha. so One liter is $2.50 or $9.65/US gallon.

Painful...very painful.

First time today for how long i can remember that diesel was cheaper then gasoline. Gasi s around 1.45 and i filled at 1.35 diesel...i don't get it. Gas jumps .20 in the last week and diesel keeps getting cheaper! I think we need to nationalize the petrole and stabilise those price...

Here in Guatemala diesel has been cheaper than gasline and then this past spring diesel crept past gas and now in the last month or so diesel has gone back below the price og gasoline. Q32.49/US gallon (about $3.50 US) right now at the name brand stations.

Whereas Montrealers get screwed royally and then some for gas even though Montreal is a major refining centre, Monday gas was still 134.9 in Morin Heights. There is absolutely NO REASON for such high gas prices in Montreal. That 'jump' is totally artificial.

BTW when I tanked on Sunday diesel was $128.9 at the Sergaz station in Kahnawake, 6 cents cheaper than elsewhere in the laurentians. Many times the difference is even larger (I've seen it 15 cents cheaper once).

BTW for those near the Ontario border it's well worth the trip over the river and tank on the other side, it's usually 15 to 20 cents cheaper per litre.

I usually post my prices on quebecgasprices.com, but I wonder if that won't have a perverse competition effect. As most Canadians know, here in Canada 'Competition' means setting your prices up at the same level as your competitor's (we've seen that before, and I've seen it with cell phone service as well). I wonder if posting prices won't have an effect of eventually leveling all the prices upward instead of downward :(

I'm not a diesel guy, and in the US to boot. Want cheap fuel ... move to Mexico where fuel prices are set by the government. Here were the prices last July. Sorry I don't have current prices. I can't afford to vacation in the US, so I go to Mexico. Shucks.

This will make you sick.

Magna (regular)$ 2.568 dollars per gallon
Premium..........$ 3.206 dollars per gallon
Diesel..............$ 2.193 dollars per gallon

Also, Ed Abbey once said "all revolutions have been failures ... all the better to start another."

Fueled up yesterday at Super Store in Abby. Gas was 141.9/L and diesel was 131.9/L. :) The price dif is starting to come back to normal - perhaps for the next two months before the heating season. I wonder what effect, if any, the financial and stock market crisis in the US will have on the price of our beloved diesel?

I'm not complete underestand this mathematic .. how is the TX reference price today under 95USD and the price for us at the gass station still raising .. ?

It's customary for oil companies to blame hurricanes these days. The fact is, most refineries are running already at capacity so any disruption will cause price increases.

diesel $1.26
gas $1.36

since i own both i just wish the prices would og back to below a buck...remember when no one thought that gas would break a buck a litre?

The point is to know where to tank up!!!

Also, it's useful to notice how we have, incredibly, accepted the rise to $1.39 as being a 'reasonable price' when last year at the same time it averaged about 89 cents...

I hope you guys were able to increase your rates without suffering too much of a loss in service calls...

"Where" is easy; key lock at a bulk fuel distributor. The one I use is frequented by long haul Arctic truckers, top quality Cdn refined fuel from Cdn oil wells. I get one bill per month at an average price always below retail pump.

Service rates are tied to the price of fuel; it's just a cost of doing business.
