Ha. It was, Dave. It’s occupied until I can get the drivetrain in…

I made the first steps toward that today.

I had to order a new flywheel from Partsouq, which was painful with shipping and tariffs. I dig that it still has factory writing on it.

Note that a 1HZ/275mm and 1HDT/300mm flywheel are dimensionally identical but the 275 uses three alignment dowels and six clutch cover bolts, where the 300mmuses two alignment dowels and eight clutch cover bolts.

Thanks to @AlbertoSD for teaching me that about four years ago in this same thread. I guess I should be faster if I’m repeating the same tech advice twice.

I broke out the big boy Terrain Tamer clutch from @orangefj45.

Note that the Toyota pilot bearing is literally just a Nachi bearing in a Toyota box. It’s the exact same part number on the bearing.

As a reminder to myself, there’s only one short bellhousing to H151 bolt and it goes underneath the throwout arm. (91612-61035)

All the rest are longer (91612-61045). The two bolts at 10 and 11 o’clock require blue Loctite. I put an L next to them so I would not forget.

Getting the H151 mated to the FTE was a giant pain in the ass. I used two cutoff h55 transmission bolts as guides… and I used one of the VDJ200 input shafts from an H152 swap to ensure everything was lined up.

And I still couldn’t get the damn thing mated up! Finally, after much cursing and sweating I was able to use a 50 mm bolt to get purchase and pull things down tight. Enough for today.

Part numbers for the bellhousing to block stiffeners included.

@RevISK whatcha dooin tomorrow?

And fart around we did. @RevISK came over and joined in the merriment:

We got the T case (HF1a, 36120-60351) bolted up. 2 short bolts (91619-61235) go in the right side from the front. 4 long bolts (91619–61245) fill in the rest of the spaces from the back.

Motor mounts were next. For whatever reason the stiffening plates on top were too small for the biggie sized rubber mounts. A step bit and two burned out Milwaukee drills later, and we were in business.

Transmission crossmember mount and hardware were next.

The insulator (12371–17050) is symmetric.
It takes four bolts (91629–61225) to mount.

The frame to motor mounts and the underside of the transmission crossmember each get a plate washer (90201–12208) and a flange nut (90179-12090), 4 each.

We were ready to fly. Nate didn’t care.

@RevISK gazes to the heavens. Most likely checking the integrity of the I-beam booger welds.

Landed safely. Fits like a glove….just like the FT did 4 years ago.

Shift tower is pretty close to the middle of the transmission hump cover, almost like we planned it that way. The cover isn’t bolted down so it’s actually a little too far to the right, worsening, the apparent asymmetry. I’ll take it.

We got the transmission crossmember under it, mocked up the radiator core support, and called it a day. Thank you, Ian, for all of your help today. This stuff is much easier with two people.

Excellent. Now come back Thursday for brake and fuel lines!;)

Not a bad Monday there Gents!

I got up to @aljollano (A.J’S YOTA’S) to vapor hone some of the FTE parts. My God, I love this technology.

Thank you A.J.!
