FYI, I cut the earplugs in half thick and the thinner side, not bisected. the thin sides works good for M6 holes, the thick for M8 and M10 holes.

The ear plug trick worked great when I was repainting the 40. Also worked well when I Raptor lined under the body.

Galen, I wouldn't sweat the threaded holes. I chased them clean with a tap after I painted my block.

I think this engine block is about as cleaned and prepped as it’s going to get. Fully taped and earplugged. I’ll see if I can degrease, prime, and paint Thursday or Friday.
@2fpower, thanks for the plug tip.

I bought a giant dual LED work lamp to brighten up the barn and it’s like the surface of the sun in here now.

Intake is next. I’m on round 3 and I am finally making progress. The runners are actually clean on the inside, as far as I can tell.

And I thought Wednesdays were golf days for doctors, who knew? Looking great doc!

Are you rattle canning it or do you have a spray gun?

@77mustard40 I’ve only played one round of golf. That’s all it took for me to know that I will never ever do it again.

@Mr Cimarron I have a three-part kit from KBS coatings. I’m going to brush on the enamel. I thought about getting a spraygun, I figured I would make a bigger mess that way.

@SNLC what is your trick for getting into the little corners?

@SNLC well maybe I’m NOT done cleaning, time for a needle scaler. Learn something every day...

Ian, maybe this will be of use to you: the timing gear set (usually $430 on Partsouq) was $130 on Impex Japan. They also had the plastic timing cover, which I couldn’t find anywhere else. My new-itis is setting in, maybe I do need to pull the timing gear set and replace…

Good god.

You are NOT helping me keep the old dirty timing case in there...

This is a family friendly website, let's not show all this cruiser porn....

Really making me feel inadequate.

Sorry, I'll show a before shot to make up for my indiscretion. :)

Screaming deal. I did once get an Aisin on partsouq for about $200.

We checked tolerances on the pump for our engine, all well within spec so just going to run it.

Cheers

That is a pretty fast FT with the mods that it already had , looks super clean now that Rod is prepping it.
Did he do any more upgrades to it ?
Joe, I'm just the untalented guy with the camera. Rob would be the person to talk to about the technical stuff.
