Outers are ordered but I don't think we've seen them on our freight. Progress on inner gears has been simply logistical/pricing to date, I need to get them some sample parts but iLean has some takeoffs he's saving for me locally. Shop is jamming with our current lineup and I'm off to South America for a bit so it's going to be sitting on the back-burner. :(

Monthly update bump on the status of the imported 100 series CV stubs that are rumored to fit Aisin hubs.

If your in SA for Team XO it's completely excused!

Have fun with the 200 down there!

Oh it'll work. If you look at the EPC it's all compatible.

43460-69046 are the outboard shafts that are compatible with Aisin FHT-001 hubs for the 100 series.

Im been down the road of it will work only to be disappointed. Are you running the set on your 100? Have you done it and held it your hand? Have you installed the stubs on a US 100? Pictures?

Literally the only difference is the outboard shaft length. Inboard CVs are the same, hub is the same, knuckle is the same...

But like you said, you never know!

The US splines are NOT compatible with the Aisin FHT-001. The splines dia and pressure angles are different:(

That's what I've heard. All I'm saying is you don't need to replace the entire CV unit to make it work - only the outboard half. :) if my CVs are junk I'll go down this route.

Looks like the previous part number I found is superceded by 43460-69155 which is the replacement outboard CV w/ free wheel hub.

Whatabout the japanese specs landcruisers? Can i just install the aisin hubs without cv mods?

Thanks! I just got back after a few months traveling through Col, Ecu, Per, Bol and Chile. We'll be headed back too finish the drive to Ushuaia. It was a fantastic trip but a ton of work both before hand (I do the logistics) as well as during the trip. My guy said rocked regular business but special projects are a mile deep and I'm going to hit them hard this week!

Can't wait to see what you and team XO put together Kurt, I can't imagine the planning going into something like that.

FWIW I am the guy from the Airport in AVL couple years ago, lol...

I have a hundy now if you gents ever need another lift!

Right on. Thanks again for the ride that day and congrats on the 100!

After loosing my front driveshaft at 75mph and chewing up anything close including transmission, I'm currently getting mine done. I ordered mine from Mark4wd. Approx $750 shipped from Australia to California. Took 4 days. I should have done this mod sooner. I literally have over $7000 accumulated expense after front driveline breakage. Expenses included custom made drive line, reman trans from Toyota and Toyota labor, rent a car and towing expenses.

Finally had a minute to pull some parts out of my R&D box and do some experimenting.

On the topis the OE shaft with new flange, on the bottom is an OE outer shaft assembly for a hub-equipped vehicle along with an AISIN hub. Sure enough the correct hub pattern AISIN slips right on and the clips all line up. Win #1

The distance from the face of the CV to the drive flange matches the distance from the face of the CV to the AISIN hub on their respective flanges. Win #2

So, as long as the length of the actual inner axle is the same, we are good to go, bolt on conversion without event requiring mods to hub, spindle, etc. That would be win #3. I won't have time to do so before I head back to South America (driving Toyota's of course) so it will have to wait until I'm back in town later this fall. That said all of our measurements jive 100% so I think they will bolt right up. Kits will follow only after I have a chance to install personally.

Now, it would be better if we can just get a gear made for the inside of the AISIN that accommodates the original CV outer AND has the correct snap ring spacing BUT that may require a pretty big buy-in and while we are selling tons of part-time kits for the 80, I'm not hearing much from 100 guys. Perhaps the lack of option is just well known and thus they don't call? The plus side of using the OEM outer joint assembly or a complete shaft is well, you get new parts. The complete shafts are good sellers and if you are buying those, the cost difference for the free-wheel hub variant is a near retail wash. Add the hubs and you're done!

This shows the difference in the stub length:

Im interested.

Interested as well

I am very interested.

Thx Kurt for sharing the info. As you probably know, the popular mod on the late model 80's is to cut in another C-clip groove on the outer axle shaft to accommodate the switchable hub. The excess length of the axle doesn't get in the way of the dial. Hopefully it is the same with the 100. I like the idea of modding the US market CV axle vs buying the shorter CV axle as it will be compatible with both the OE flange and the selectable Aisin.

Awesome Kurt! Very cool R&D. Hoping this turns into another awesome product/kit from Cruiser Outfitters.

I agree with @hoser also...if we can just get our existing outers machined with the additional groove and have the extra bit not get in the way and be all good...would also be great to save $$ not having to buy new outers (or complete shafts depending on the results from your #3 item).
