I drove the truck in to work today. Prepare yourselves for a little extra body roll and lots of wind noise. Ugh!

does anyone know if you insert the metal bars into their pocket holder - to hold the rain fly away from the main tent, can you now not close the tent? IE: do we need to climb up or lean out the windows every time, to get those metal bars situated?

As info, you can see them dangling down between the rain fly and tent in this pic:

the black bar is what keeps the awning area open. Dave's got that installed correctly. It's the two (in our tents silver) bars that hold the rain fly away from the main tent. Doesn't appear to be any of those on the tent in the video you posted.

On ours we hook the metal rods to the rainfly and roll the outside door up leaving the screen down. Otherwise the fly isn't taught and won't work right when it rains.

Also, make sure when it is deployed, that you pull the rainfly taught on the sides good. If you don't water will force the fly down onto the fabric and then it will start to wick thru and drip. Ask me how o know.

Picture to help clarify the tension rod and rainfly comment.

And yes that is in the garage, comes in handy for drying it out when it gets packed up in the rain.

Also the fly should be attached to the overhang on the entry side as well to keep it tight in that direction. Yours looks like it is rolled up onto the top a little.

Does anyone know if 58” load bars will fit on the 80? I’m outta town right now so I can’t measure and can’t remember.

I have 66” bars on my 100 and the bars hang off about 8” on each side....so I would think 58” should be good.

My old Garvin rack was 50" wide and pretty well matched to top of the 80, so a 58" bar should be just about right with 3"-4" overhang on each side.

James, I’m not sure if the fly prop poles can be left attached or if they have to be taken loose before the tent gets folded up. I didn’t mess with the fly at all. It wasn’t pulled tight or strapped. I only deployed the tent to an extent good enough for the kids to get in and look around. I’ll fiddle with it more when I have time and let you know.

Our RTT had a seperat bag to store the fly prop poles in. I do not leave them attached when the tent is stored.

I was gonna buy one but it won’t be tall enough. I have an aunt that can custom sew them - for cheap :). She customized the canvas for the trailer.

It doesnt fit 100% but i can deal with it.
