After last week's heavy rain, found this today on both the front driver and passenger sides.

Already planned on removing the headliner to add DEI Boom Mat heat & sound barrier material so now I can easily clean all four drain tubes from the sunroof down to the rockers. Definitely got lucky here, glad it rained enough to see this problem before I had all the interior back in.

Looks like the PO got to go out on a lot of dirt trails. With every removal of a panel I got a nice cloud of dust to inhale. Could almost taste the trails.

Thanks for the info. The inside of the frame rails are actually dried up mud. I am finding lots of sand and dried mud on the undercarriage. However there is a lot of surface rust through out the whole underside. Thank you for the info. I plan on tackling in the next couple weeks and will post some before and after shots.
2k, My 80 also has some rust very similar to yours. I am planning on tackling the rust as well and have spoken to some very knowledgeable people who passed along some very good advice as to what to use, process, etc. Maybe we can help each other out. I'll help you work on your rust issues if you help me with mine. Two people can tackle the issue more quickly than one. Lmi if you want to discuss. I am also in socal. Very nice rig you picked up. - Greg

Hey Greg, with my work schedule, it's hard for me to tackle anything when I want. The truck just sits there most of the time and as soon as I have any free time I get on it. Work comes first, unfortunately, but if you have any questions, let me know, glad to help. You can also swing by our shop if you are local and we can see what you got.
Thank you,
John

Got the front Metal tech 1.5" front strut spacers on yesterday.

The OME shocks were done, installed back in 2009 and I was able to push them down with one hand and very little effort, swapped them out for a set of the Fox 2.0 shocks #985-24-076 Front & #985-24-087 Rears. Heard good things about them so anxious to try them out.

Also couldn't resist, had to try them on to see how they fit. :)
Difference of the 35" MT vs. the 37" AT

Since no one really makes use of the two rear overhead speakers I thought it would be a perfect location for a set of LED lights to illuminate the cargo area. Found a set of these LED DRL's in our shop and after bending the mounting bracket they fit perfectly. Disconnected the factory speaker wire and used the existing harness since the wires already run down the pillar. Then I will use the other end of factory harness plug to connect to the lift gate switch so when I open the trunk, I have light.

Soldered the factory speaker harness and reconnected. Mounted right up to the speaker bracket. The complete headliner does not need to be pulled to do this. If the rear clips are removed, the rear section of the headliner will flop down enough to access the speaker locations.

Anything else I should do or add other than clean off all the dirt before putting the heat barrier and the headliner back in???

I already cleaned out all 4 of the sunroof drains and ran about half a gallon of water to make sure I don't have anymore leaks.

Speaking of being an addict, ordered these the same week I got the 80. Now I am impatiently waiting :bounce2:

Just received a refusal letter from the Department of Motor Vehicles for my Black plates.

Reason for "80ADICT" refusal was the following, "the requested license plate configuration contains a reference to drugs"

Somebody there must own an 80 and know of the addiction.

You have to write something feminine!!

I was refused for bludytg, bloody thing on my imola red m3 but when I requested for bludym3 it was accepted

If I got NLXTACY you should be able to squeak by whatever you want :flipoff2:

Hey @NLXTACY what Vent Flaps? Where are they located?

As far as the roof rack, definitely putting up some lighting. Probably will have front, rear and sides like my other 80, so I have a total of 8 wires running to the roof above the driver side area behind the sunroof.
