Nice work, you are most likely aware of this but In an attempt tp be helpful I would like to expand on the rust mentioned earlier. Pay close attention to the rust Inside the frame rails. Once the paint has been compromised the frame can rust from the Inside out from trapped moisture and old salt residue. Clean to bare metal as best you can and coat It with POR 15, buy the small cans Its Very Sticky then rattle can. I'm from the midwest and have seen some Interesting situations caused by this condition. They usually start with doors not closing on uneven ground, then the car can be seen going down the road off track, then finally they fold up like an accordion under hard braking. LOL My exaggerated attempt at humor !!! Just watch It closely It can be a problem and you are doing a lot of good work I would not want to see Impacted by this condition. Good Luck !! :)
Thanks for the info. The inside of the frame rails are actually dried up mud. I am finding lots of sand and dried mud on the undercarriage. However there is a lot of surface rust through out the whole underside. Thank you for the info. I plan on tackling in the next couple weeks and will post some before and after shots.

My morning appointment couldn't make it in till tomorrow, so had a few hours to get some parts on.
Repainted the Front Iron Man Adjustable Panhard Bar and TG Tie Rod HD Bars, ready to be installed.
Removed my AOE bumper, still have to figure out how to put the massive 10k Warn winch on there.
From what I have read looks like I have to cut into the lower valance and grille to squeeze it in. We will soon see.

Finished up with cleaning off the dried up mud and surface rust on the front end and frame rails. Primed and painted with high temp flat black.

Good looking build so far. I am actually trying to join the club. Currently I own a 2002 Xterra 4wd that I wanna give up for an FJ80

Once you go 80, you never go back.... or have any cash, or any free time, or .....

I've been driving Toyotas for the last 10 years (I've owned 6).
I recently quit a job that had me traveling quite a bit, so now I have tons of free time.
I just purchased an 80, and no have a bug for a 40.
While my girlfriend hates the garage filled with parts, she's says she's glad I have something to do.

My name is Daniel and I'm a Land Cruiser addict.
Hi Daniel! And welcome, You're with friend here and nobody will pass judgment on you...Lol

I am already in that boat. Veteran going to school full time working full time.
Nah! A veteran!? Couldn't tell with that disgruntled look and DVB...Disgruntled Veteran Beard. Acronyms never go away. We just pick up a new set when we get out lol.

Finished up with the winch and started on the bumpers today. Had to cut the led mount tabs off the front bumper to fit the winch on.

This Cruiser project has officially taken over my work table

Yesterday was able to cut off the rear frame rails for the 4x4labs bumper. Sanded all surface rust, primed, and coated flat black. Next is to tackle all the rust on the suspension components and axle housings.

Decided to repaint the bumpers silver since I think it will look better on a black truck. Black on black will just get lost and look blah in my opinion. Also installed a set of smoked LED tail lights from my previous '96.

Added a 1.5" steel filler across the top of the bumper and painted black to cover the gap under the tailgate.

off topic, but how loud is the truck with the muffler cut off? BTW, ace build thread!

That rear muffler is more like a resonator. You will barely notice the difference when it's off.

Let me start by saying getting the Warn to fit the AOE bumper was a PITA. Other than cutting down the light bar tabs, still had to grind down the front side of mounting plate to finally fit. Once on the truck I had to push back the lower valance and remove the grillle. I would either have to cut a portion of the lower part of the grille to clear the winch or make a mesh style to fit around it. Still have to do some more measuring to know which would work better.
