Never mind - just read that I do NEED VB
I have TechStream running on two different machines - both running Windows 10 and neither needing VB to work properly

Mine consistently fails with an error code when trying to read ABS codes. Everything else seems to work fine. Any suggestions?

So basically:
- Purchase OBD2 mini Vic with most current techstream software
- upload software to computer running most current operating system
- and connect
Is it that simple?

yep

Yeah its really that easy...

Could someone post up a link to a dependable cable either on Amazon or another site because the original one isn’t linking correctly for me AND I’ve learned a little bit from the cable guy that came out to the house that the quality of a cable can and does matter sometimes.

Who knew the bottle neck from my modem to my router was a cable, lol... Changed it and got another 100 megs! Wohoo!

I know I won’t have much stuff to play with on the 2000 LC but the 2015 Tacoma could prove interesting.....

Oh on a side note, could TIS be used by me to program another set of TPMS valves from a new set of wheels into my 2015 Tacoma?

I've had my cable for way before I got my 100 (used it for my 2004 4Runner and 2009 Camry), so I can't help you there. My 100 doesn't have TPMS but I think if your 100 has a TPMS button in the glove box, you should be able to program a 2nd set of sensors into it. Make sure you write down or take a picture of each sensor's registration code, you'll need to type those into TS.

TechStream will let you delete all the transponder keys (as long as you have a master) and all the wireless remotes then program new ones. A total of 4 keys . Did this for mine after i used this thread to get techstream, po lost 2 keys before selling only had one master left
@ls6 what version of techstream do you have? I didn't see any options for programming keys or fobs on mine but thought I saw somewhere that in some versions this option is not available.

In the main menu try "body" "utility" for the wireless fobs. Try "immobilizer" "utility" for key wiping and programing. I may be wrong on the menu names but its in there im running virtual box and the software linked in this thread.

You're prob only looking in customize, which doesn't have any pf these options. Utility is where its at

I've only used up to V12... IIRC... V13 or 14 that may have gone away. Anyone with V13 or greater program keys?

I checked my techstream out and I don't have the option to do anything under the body utilities. Not sure what is going on there, if its my vehicle, cable, computer or what.

I am on the cusp.......

got the virtual box to work and Techstream to come up, but then
UNABLE TO CONNECT TO VIM.

your VB needs to recognize the usb cable you plugin before it can connect to TIS. this error screen happens to me if i click into techstream too quickly before hearing the audible usb connected ding - lower right hand side flashing usb device - or checking the connection with the MVCI Firmware Update tool.. make sure the usb connection is good before starting TIS in VB

i will check my version but have you tried following any youtube videos? i followed one when i did my key relearn and it showed me all the steps in TIS.

I'm pretty certain I'm looking in the right place, the body section as you said before. The videos I did see weren't lx470 specific but im sure its in the same place across vehicles. It seems I am lacking some options all around, not just the key fob programming.

Using VB, I thought all of the MVCI stuff was kind of taken care of? Also, YouTube videos because most of this deal with installing this software with the VB.
Is my assumption wrong, do I need to hook up and install the cable software separately?

thanks for the feedback!

You may try opening techstream on virtual box. Then select setup. Then select VIM select. Then in the scroll down select xhorse-mvci. Mine was set wrong after doing the techstream in 5 minutes vb download. Good luck
