It’s the only way I know how to do it.
Updated the original list:
3 things left from the original list.
Time for rust repair and to get the truck to drive to its next date with destiny.
To rip that dang automatic out and swap to a 5 speed. It has to make it maybe 80 miles over to @samc2447 ’s shop to get torn apart and remade into something respectable.
Excited to watch this! When you add a 5spd to a FJ62 does it become a FJ65?
Had another great day. It’s almost ready to have its trans ripped out!
Got the following knocked out
-steering column is no longer falling out. Bolts back in, ready for clamshell.
-auto trans is completely not leaking. Reseated the dipstick
-Flushed the first water fill. Added chemical flush and it’s still nasty. I expect to put the upgraded block drain in thanks to @crtx 90910-09120. This is going to be a step 2 of 6 for the cooling system.
This video is basically where I’m at.
-I added j hook wiper arms, small things
-added Pareto point dual filter bypass system. Basically a bolt on and will help the 3FE not die
-added a mangefine on the ps line. Fluid was black and looked like used engine oil. This may save the box.
-added a new pigtail to the oil pressure sending unit, now that works. Awesome stuff.
Ran out of daylight, next update is brakes and rust repair. And to rip the automatic out. Can’t wait.
Took it on a ride to the pizza joint and stopped in a parking lot. The lighting was right for certified iPhone photography.

I’ll be calling you soon, and you’ll have some gifts in the mail. I’m gonna need a a complete package solution from you.
You’re a great asset to the community, thanks for your help!
Funny that you mention that, that non usa vented cap fixed a bad pressure build up issue in my 60. I had a normal factory cap that I drilled a 1/16 hole in, it was still building up pressure and hissing since I’m using a non usa carb without a charcoal canister.
The non usa flying saucer cap fixed that! No more pressure build up.
I know I can get the cylinder out; but once the clamshell is on…this truck is never coming back off! Your details are too nice for a near part out Junker truck like this.
