Matt is correct. The flanges need to be swapped. I bet the way it sits, you can not rotate the front output …… hopefully the dust shield is still good. You’ll want to install new stake nuts as well.

It’s done and I think it’s right.

To say that I’m proud is an understatement.

Huge thanks to @orangefj45 @samc2447 and @bottombracket

Did you loctite the bolt holding the tab for the idler shaft? If not do so because losing that bolt and having the idler shaft slip out will be bad.

I'd install the hi-lo shift fork arm while the t-case is out of the truck. It will be easier now than once the t-case is installed plus that will eliminate the possibility of having the internal shifter drop into the t-case.

Should I fill it to see if the seals are fine or just replace them both?

It’s gonna sit for a week before I can pull it all.

I put a dab of the thread sealant on all the bolts I marked with the paint pen. I’ll hit it with red loctite to be sure. There is no reason for that bolt to ever come out.

I remember your fiasco. I’ll do that lever now.

Just for future reference for future mudders reading this thread and perhaps not understanding, these are the tabs (FSM calls them 'Ribs') that are supposed to line up.

Please learn from my mistakes.

Also, just let georg do your case :)

After dealing with Covid and some family things, I’m back at it.

Swapped the oil pan, did the pan gasket, rear main seal and got the bellhousing/ clutch stuff in.

The next day will be shortening the hi/low linkage, swapping flanges on the t case front to back and getting ready to put all that mess in the truck.

A huge tanks to my friend @samc2447 for lending his shop, and listening to me ask the occasional dumb question.

@FJ62DadWagon came by today to help me not do things out of order and plan the rest of this.

Much appreciated.

I never thought that just leaving something alone would make me so happy.

I’m starting to get really hyped up on putting it back like it should be. With exception to the transmission. The auto can 🔥

did you remember to install the pilot bearing? :)

I did. I freaked out badly when I thought thst I forgot to buy one; but it was in the aisin clutch kit.

I’ll do the clutch fork/boot in and then stab the trans.

Also, your harness is going in soon!

I messed up badly the last time I sealed the case for the “last time”

I left the hi/low selector 180* out. I had to split the case again and move it to sit in the right detent.

Getting closer to install of the trans in the next two weeks.
