You can maintain the O2 sensors and route inside the frame rail to a 2 inlet - 1 outlet cat, then out the back however you like. I’m sure you know that, but the shops won’t do that?

Seriously! It’s pretty bad. No we don’t have smog here in Seattle but most exhaust shops don’t want to remove cats. I wish I could get that sweet OTRAMM exhaust. Now that I have new sensors I bought myself some time. I think I am going to try and get a welder a build my own system like @Kleatus did for his 62.
On my '86 FJ60 I basically used an FJ60 single catalytic converter exhaust system and hangers with a custom downpipe section from the 3FE manifolds to the catalytic converter. That eliminated the pipe that crosses under the frame rail. And the catalytic converter was the OEM part. No smog requirements where I live.

No, I have had a few mention federal regulations saying they can’t modify or remove cats from the exhaust. So they can’t go from a 2 cat to 1 cat system. Or maybe they just didn’t want to take the project on, who knows.

Bring it to Alabama. I have a local guy that will build it the way you want. He does good work for a good price.

Since @Seth S shamed me by pointing out my brake fluid looked way too dark :flipoff2:

I did a full fluid flush, and boy did it need it. That fluid was way too dark (3 years old). I put in some new DOT5.1 fluid this time:

Been driving it around for the past few days. Took it on a ferry ride to the marine lab for work. Nice to be back in the blue beast. Sure runs nice now.

Hopefully taking it camping soon. It needs to see some dirt.

I see you have perfected how to keep the Motive pressure bleeder cap sealed.
Will have to try that next time.
Ha! Oh yeah, their setup didn’t work too well out of the box. These clamps JUST fit with the hood there but with two you can really clamp down on the reservoir to keep the pressure.

Where's that marine lab?

In the San Juans someplace?

The UW does have a marine lab up at Friday Harbor in the San Juan’s. Thankfully I don’t have to drive up there! I am mainly working out at the NOAA marine facility over near Bremerton.

What’s wrong with Friday Harbor?

I like the MUK station, to bad it was listing
into the Sound.

Does the Bremerton station have a brewery next door? I might make that trip to swap car parts and have a beer.

Nothing wrong at all, in fact I believe its a very cool place. But it also takes like 3-4 hours to get there with the ferries. Way too long to commute ;)
There is a little "town" out by the bremerton lab with a bar, and a dock close by to watch the tide roll away with some beers.

Took @NookShneer 's advice and got this cruiser off road and into some dirt. :) We grabbed our truss telescope and headed for the dark skies of the mountains south east of Seattle to view Jupiter and Saturn.
Blue Guy performed perfectly and it was a relief to know all that work was worth it and I didn't mess anything up. Going over Snoqualmie Pass, I was able to easily hold 60mph (could have gone faster). Engine heat never got close to red zone. Based on the gas gauge movement I am not sure if my MPGs are worse with these new injectors, but time will tell. Power is good though and I am happy with this cruiser. I need to work on more sound deadening, putting IR blocking film on the windows and order some 2-degree shims from @cruiseroutfit . Steering seems a bit too responsive to the road.

Pics or it didn't happen:

And pushing the film a bit too much with the fading light :p

Finally got around to installing a part (hood pad and clips) I purchased from @Onur in 2015. Not sure why I waited so long to just get this project done. :p Super happy its done now!
Took the hood off with the help of my awesome wife and got it all laid out in the garage for new glue.

I used 3M 08115. This stuff REALLY set well. Those ribs are not going anywhere for a long time. I read opinions on whether to use a flexible adhesive or a rigid one for this application but I just didn't understand why it needed to be flexible so I went with something that would really hold the ribs to the hood. I was paranoid about the hood deforming so once I applied the adhesive, I flipped the hood over and had it only rest on its natural mounting points (the hinge area and the front support pad area. Then I stacked some soft material underneath to put light pressure at the center point of the hood ribs to give them a little bonding pressure while it cured, but not enough to cause any distortion. Worked perfect!

Once that was cured it was time to sand out and paint the front section of the hood since the paint was barely there and it was starting to get some serious surface rust. Used 2k primer, base color from automotivetouchup.com, then a 2k clear coat.

Finally time for hood pad install!

Thankfully the paint blended pretty well! Not the best paint job but it will buy me some time until I can get the whole rig a legit paint job. The hood doesnt line up well on the passenger side due to the PO not repairing a fender bender well. Some day that will get fixed. I think the fender just needs to get moved around a bit.

Thanks to @Onur for help with the parts 5 years ago (Ha!) and @NookShneer for repeatedly hinting it was crazy I hadn't installed the hood pad yet. :slap:

Just wait. Next I’ll really lay into you about those sliders and exhaust.

Small random update. Found a small parts time capsule for sale locally. A nice set of belts, air cleaner element, some wiper blades..... but my favorites have to be the FJ62 1980s style shutter shades as well as the plastic parts department bag direct from 1994. :D Older couple was selling the parts, apparently they bought these parts for their FJ62 as spares for a drive up to Alaska years ago. They sold their cruiser 2 years ago and just found these parts in their garage.

They actually fit very snuggly. They say only put on if local regulations allow... then say showroom only. Who knows. I like them but I'll keep them off for now. hahaha
