You can maintain the O2 sensors and route inside the frame rail to a 2 inlet - 1 outlet cat, then out the back however you like. I’m sure you know that, but the shops won’t do that?

On my '86 FJ60 I basically used an FJ60 single catalytic converter exhaust system and hangers with a custom downpipe section from the 3FE manifolds to the catalytic converter. That eliminated the pipe that crosses under the frame rail. And the catalytic converter was the OEM part. No smog requirements where I live.Seriously! It’s pretty bad. No we don’t have smog here in Seattle but most exhaust shops don’t want to remove cats. I wish I could get that sweet OTRAMM exhaust. Now that I have new sensors I bought myself some time. I think I am going to try and get a welder a build my own system like @Kleatus did for his 62.
No, I have had a few mention federal regulations saying they can’t modify or remove cats from the exhaust. So they can’t go from a 2 cat to 1 cat system. Or maybe they just didn’t want to take the project on, who knows. You can maintain the O2 sensors and route inside the frame rail to a 2 inlet - 1 outlet cat, then out the back however you like. Ha! Oh yeah, their setup didn’t work too well out of the box. These clamps JUST fit with the hood there but with two you can really clamp down on the reservoir to keep the pressure.I see you have perfected how to keep the Motive pressure bleeder cap sealed.
Will have to try that next time.
Where's that marine lab?Since @Seth S shamed me by pointing out my brake fluid looked way too dark
I did a full fluid flush, and boy did it need it. That fluid was way too dark (3 years old). I put in some new DOT5.1 fluid this time:
Been driving it around for the past few days. Took it on a ferry ride to the marine lab for work. Nice to be back in the blue beast. Sure runs nice now.
Hopefully taking it camping soon. It needs to see some dirt.
The UW does have a marine lab up at Friday Harbor in the San Juan’s. Thankfully I don’t have to drive up there! I am mainly working out at the NOAA marine facility over near Bremerton.
Nothing wrong at all, in fact I believe its a very cool place. But it also takes like 3-4 hours to get there with the ferries. Way too long to commuteWhat’s wrong with Friday Harbor?
I like the MUK station, to bad it was listing
into the Sound.
Does the Bremerton station have a brewery next door? I might make that trip to swap car parts and have a beer.
Thanks to @Onur for help with the parts 5 years ago (Ha!) and @NookShneer for repeatedly hinting it was crazy I hadn't installed the hood pad yet.
